Cheers to all of you on DU who fought hard for Obama and those who fight now for the better
It saddens me greatly about the issue regarding Warren and how it has upset many who fell betrayed, confused, pissed or wondering what the new administration will bring for equal civil rights.

I've tried to play the Devil's Advocate on Obama's decision on Warren being a participant and that's an issue I feel I could argue with as much discerning sensitivity to the rage for that decision. I'll be in DC for the Inauguration and will turn my back when Warren speaks and perhaps will find a rainbow hat to wear or a flag as well as wear a white ribbon. It will be done in the spirit of all those who are upset about Warren and are fighting to make the World better.

Of course, I look at the entire primary season and especially all that happened this year. It was nothing short of an emotional roller coaster ride with so many twists and turns in the road. I met so many absolutely wonderful people of all stripes, races, creeds, orientations and all I can say is that I have nothing but the greatest faith in the human race to steer us out of the myriad of dilemmas we face and will face for generations to come.

There was anger. There was rage. There were times when we even questioned our country's path and we have to be vigilant at all costs. As if all of a sudden, we had elected a man to be President that I would get tears from people when I gave them an Obama button or bumper sticker.

I give thanks to all that supported all the candidates that ran. The passion, now that the fog has cleared, is stunning when you take a second to stand in those people's shoes to see their perspective.

All in all, we are all fighting hard to make the World better. We have our different ways of doing it, but the final goal of making this country something that would make future generations look at with great admiration is our common goal.

Here's a toast to you... all of you!

4. We elected a better man than we might appreciate, one who is not a trained pet
who will jump through our hoops and exactly do our bidding. He is an imperfect man and I think that he would admit that. For better or worse we live in heady times and I am happy that Barack Obama will be our leader and a leader of whom we can be proud.

5. Thank you for this wonderful post
I could not give much to the Obama campaign because of a myriad of personal issues. I salute you for doing what you did to get our candidate elected.

6. I support PE Obama and will throughout.
Even if every once in a while I give a nudge.

Let's face it, the world he inherited is a hideous mess and he is the best man for the job. Even after I turn my back to the invocator, I will turn back and be glad President Obama is taking the helm.

8. Just got a call at midnight from someone who worked for the Obama campaign like no other
She has worked for a lot of campaigns in California and had just gotten back from a protest concerning the present Israel/Palestine quagmire... what a gem of a person...

Here's to 2009 and keeping the spirit to stay grassroots and get some things done.

13. We did it..every single
person who worked and voted to get our country back to reality and wrest it from the rabid corporatemedia who brought us bush and would hand the country to john mccain and palin on a silver platter.

We knew it wouldn't be easy and the work wouldn't stop once we won but that's not stopping us from doing what we do in continuing the eradication of fascist reptiles.

9. This is why we can't stop - because our enemies won't stop 'till
they take our family rights totally away as they did in Virgnia, as they did in California as they now want to do in Cleveland.

And now, according to repig pundits, taking away gay adoption (and of course even our kids) are next on their docket.

The right wing is not going to support a Dem POTUS no matter how some want to appease them, they have already declared themsleves "the loyal opposition."

Warren is not the issue per se, it is everything that he represents and everything that appeasing him and those like him, represent.

Several local pastors have banded together in an effort to repeal Cleveland's recently passed domestic-partner registry.

A group led by the Rev. C. Jay Matthews of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church is circulating two types of petitions, one of which would put the controversial issue on a citywide referendum ballot.

Matthews cast the registry as a sneaky maneuver by the City Council to circumvent a 2004 constitutional amendment that banned gay-marriage and civil unions in Ohio.

"It should be handled by the state of Ohio and, unfortunately, our city is once again out of step with the reality of the challenges that are before us," Matthews said at news conference Tuesday at his church. He was joined by seven other religious leaders...

Referendum looms over partner registry

by Eric Resnick

...Asked directly if he had been strong-armed by ministers, Pruitt said “Yes.”

Pruitt said he still supports the registry, calling it “a good concept, a good idea.”

Pruitt said the threats caused him to withdraw support for the registry and vote against it, and that it was purely related to his special election.

“I couldn’t risk having the ministers, who don’t have all the facts, on the pulpits preaching against me on Sunday,” Pruitt said...

10. Seriously, what would Jesus do?
He would throw these motherf&ckers into the sea to see them drown.

Onward into 2009 to do some serious grassroots asskicking to get equal rights for all. I think Jesus would be on our side... let's be relentless!

Obama's silence on Gaza is more disgusting and sickening than his palling with Rick Warren.

As to those that hide behind the "there's one President at a time," I'll say that it didn't stop Obama from making his views known about the economy. Is Obama hoping that Gaza will be over by the time he is sworn in?

15. Yeah because if he just said something the bombs would stop
and so would all the killing.

Of course he spoke about the economy...thats something he's already working on and can have a direct impact on once he's in office. Bush is still the president whether we like it or not and it wouldn't be a good idea to speak on foreign policy issues right now when his views probably differ a great deal from Bush's.

Anyway, this post is about looking forward to the future.

When you decide the Castro brothers are doing a better job than the guy we elected to be President of these United States....you have some real issues.

Cheers to the New Administration and to those of us who worked hard to get Obama in office!

is sick and disgusting.

And let me tell you, I really wish I could say what I would like to say. But you're not even worth a deleted post.

19. Thanks and to you to

I am very excited to be able to watch Obama at this point of history

I am disappointed about Warren but still feel that it is a strategic use of power by Obama (I just would have preferred another evangelical to make the point).
