This is the Ad we need, in my humble opinion
We must begin to counter the "kerry can't be trusted on national security" mumbo jumbo which is having some effect in holding down Kerry's numbers. Why? it's clear that Bush can't win on domestic issues. It is also clear that he has improved his standing due to making this an election referendum on national security.

Who can counter this? I say we go with an ad wit the best surrogate I think Kerry has--Max Cleland. It should be a simple ad with Cleland speaking directly into the camera:

Cleland:
I'm sick and tired of my comrade in arms, John Kerry being attacked as soft on National defense by a president who has yet to fully explain if and when he showed up for duty in the Air National Guard and a Vice President who received five deferments to avoid going to Vietnam. John Kerry served this country as a young man with honor and has the scars to prove it. He will serve his country with honor if elected president.

When the Vice President asserted at a campaign event that electing John Kerry would result in another terrorist attack, it made my blood boil. But that is all they know how to do, tear down their opponents because they don't have a positive record to run on.

After 9/11 we had the world behind us in an effort to avenge the murders of more than 3000 innocent people. We were one in the effort to find Bin Laden, but then when we had him on the run, the president suddenly cut and runs out of Afghanistan-- in a rush to war with Iraq. The results have been catastophic in time, resources and yes, human life. Yet this president said that he "wasn't concerned" about finding Bin Ladden and it wasn't a "top priority".

Mr. President why did you let Bin Laden off the hook when we had him on the run to rush to war with Iraq?

"I'm John Kerry and I approve this ad"

1. p.s.
It might not be bad to have Gen. Clark do a similar type ad.
