So the press is complaing that Obama doesn't like being followed. . .
. . .as long as they can follow him there really is no problem. Its human nature not to like being stalked and as long as the press is allowed to stalk him I'm not sure what the problem is.

He knows he lives in a bubble, he knows that part of the job but he as the right to voice his concern about not liking it, doesn't he?

1. I just saw that on MSNBC.
Norah tried to claim that by chaffing at the media attention, Obama was somehow neglecting his responsibilities.

5. yep
I'm glad the presidential historian was like "Uh, no. This really happens with all presidents. They will have to get used to it, but it's normal."

I can kind of understand when the press gets pissed when Obama pulls the switcheroo and goes to meet Clinton without them (though it was hilarious), but the "outrage" because Obama took his daughters to an amusement park seems kind of silly. "What if something had HAPPENED and we needed his REACTION!"

2. Plenty of recent presidents have
complained about having to have the press in tow everywhere they g. So no, Obama isn't doing anything new.

Are they really still mad Obama and Sasha ditched them for the amusement park over the weekend. :P

4. Obama would be better off if he didn't make this an issue
This all goes with the territory. Obama can either accept it or get needlessly pissed off and aggravated over it. Nothing he can do to change the situation.

He knows that he has to be subjected to it, however maybe if he pushes back a little he might get a little relief when he is with his family.

9. HE'S not "making an issue"... Nora is referring to an interview
that was done back in the primaries where he simply said the one thing he misses is "walks". The fact that he left the press home when he went to the water park is not "making an issue of it"

The press is "making an issue". Big difference.

Edited on Mon Dec-29-08 10:40 AM by nomad1776
Captain America, during the 70s (with the Watergate Scandal and the Vietnam war etc) lost faith in his Country. He still loved his country, but it no longer felt right to be its champion. So he gave up his Captain America persona and became the hero known as Nomad. With George Bush, and all the atrocities he committed in our name, I felt the same way.

WHO DOES LIKE 24/7 snooping into one's personal business? Obama's NOT President yet so it's a little early to start bitching about Barack evading the press corps in order to spend some private time with his daughters (water park fun). :eyes:

27. if this starts to happen frequently, it would be a problem.
But, I don't think taking his kids to the amusement park before he officially goes in is enough for me to draw a conclusion about it yet. At least he doesn't constantly whine about "unfair media treatment" 24/7, because that gets annoying. I'm sure that there is behind the scenes stuff like that that happens, (complaining to reporters, etc), but I hate having to listen to politicans complain about it ALL the time. That's our job ;)

In fact it is much worse in the Papparazi era we live in.

Yes, they should have some access but there used to be a level of respect back in the day. Nora is part of the problem....

31. The reporting lately is shit. So what he went to the amusement
park with his kids....they'll find him eventually. I'm sure he knows whats coming. The interview just last night talked about it.

However, I would have asked them to if they really needed to report "cheese" on a fucking sandwich.
