14. You've never seen it? YOU MUST. DO IT NOW.
I'm not kidding either. If you can appreciate the clip you just watched you really have to see the whole series, in it's entirety, and please start at the the beginning. It is amazing television, the best I have seen, ever. I mean that. I have never in my life seen a more intelligent, well-written, well-acted, and altogether meaningful a show as that one. Really, nothing comes close for me.

21. I checked the schedule and the Pilot will be on at 3am on Bravo on 1/7
I've set TIVO to record it.

I worked nights for the whole time The West Wing was on the air and I worked a lot of weekends at the time. I hardly caught anything new unless someone told me about it. And frankly it's only since I got the TIVO that I was able to catch things since I can just set it and run without worrying about what channel the cable box is set to.

I love my TIVO

Regards

24. Like you, I worked nights for years and missed a lot of shows.
But rather than see them on tv re-runs, cut to fit commericials
( every word is golden on the series)
I rented the entire series via Netflix and could concentrate on plot lines for multiple episodes.
If I ever have the bucks, I am going to buy the entire series.
It is that good.
It will be that memorable.

Anyone who knew me knew to never bother me from 9pm to 10pm on Wednesday nights when it was still running on NBC. I ignored my own family. It was that good.

20. He is reciting the "Dear Dr. Laura" letter:
Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev.24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev.20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan,

28. That was a great moment in WW
He put her in her place. The clip doesn't show Toby asking President Bartlet how should deal with Conservative Christians, which is why at the end he says, "Toby...that's how I beat them".

29. I own the entire seven seasons - my gift to myself. I just love
every single episode. The episode called "Two Cathedrals" and "Stackhouse Filibuster" (second season) are just amazing. To get the true impact of that show you need to start at the beginning and watch all episodes in order. There are too many good episodes to pick a favorite.

Each and every character played an integral part on the show - there were no throw away roles to fill time or space. Toby, Josh, CJ, Abby, Jeb, Donna, Leo, Sam, Margaret, Mrs. Landingham, Charlie brought that show to life. The casting was dead on and you truly admired the work of each actor and what they brought to the show. They owned their roles.

To truly appreciate the difficulty of each role you need to get your hands on a collection of Sorkin's scripts. I have three volumes of scripts and they are really amazing pieces of work. The fast, cross-talking, fast walking conversations in the show sometimes leads to some really good lines and interplay between the characters to get lost. The interviews of the Sorkin, cast and director really shows how hard this show was to produce and yet they did it with such a high degree of excellence.

And President Bartlett's famous line after each and every crisis was, "What's next?" is exactly how I hope that President Elect Obama approaches his job. Get it done and move on.

The West Wing got me through plenty of times of watching the real news and Bonehead Bush & The Cabal were performing like a badly produced three grade play.

30. About those scripts"
HOw can I get MY hands on them?

The emphasis on fast talking, fast walking, surely had nothing to do with Sorkin's cocaine use, did it? ( insert appropriate sarcasm tag here).

I might justify to myself buying the darn series.
I watched them all back to back via Netflix...with subtitles, so I did not miss any of the words.

Powerful stuff.

The one scene that moved me the most is on youtube, showing Barlett. after his crisis of confidence in the church, going to the press conference to announce whether he would run again. " Two Cathederals"
A mostly silent scene with Knopfler's "Brother's in Arms" background music.
I get chills every time watching it.

cuz, if he didn't, well, you know what they say about the company you keep and call 'friends', and invite to give prayers because you respect them.
