Forget Vietnam. Focus on the Last Four Miserable Years!!
God damn it! :hi:

Bush has been a terrible president. Americans don't like the direction he's leading them in. He must go.

Get your minds off Vietnam. We're putting all our eggs there. It's a losing cause. Focus on how unsafe Bush has made the world. That's the mantra we should be repeatintg everyday. The borders are more porous. Terror attacks are way up. Iraq has become a haven for terrorists. Hit Bush on his failure. Hit him again. And again. He's weak and vulnerable, and we have all been witness to it. We don't need silver bullet documents to prove how right we are about this.

1. Don't tell us
Tell the media. Kerry isn't focusing on Vietnam in his stump speeches. If you're sick of hearing about it, write your local newspaper about a real issue.

3. Exactly!
We need to turn the focus of this election from the Vietnam era to a referendum on W. He and his admin failed to properly focus on terrorism when they took office (read Clarke's book), and then after 9/11 they failed to effectively fight the war on terrorism by diverting resources from Afghanistan to fight an unnecessary war in Iraq under the false guise as a continuance of the war on terror.

4. And they're still fucking up in Iraq!
They were claiming to make the world safer by getting rid of Saddam. Instead, their policies have led directly to dozens of abductions and murders of non-soldiers (not to mentions tens of thousands of civilian deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan). They are FAILURES! (And we're not even getting into economics!)

5. Kerry isn't focusing on Vietnam, but others can and should
Kerry is focusing on the here and now.

<snip>

MR. CHENEY, ANSWER THE QUESTION!

"Dick Cheney and George Bush have tried to mislead the American people about a direct link between Iraq and September 11th. They are playing the politics of fear to cover up their failed policies on the economy and Iraq. Yesterday, Secretary Powell said he sees no direct link between Saddam Hussein and what happened on September 11th. Dick Cheney needs to answer the question: Who's telling the truth -- you or Colin Powell?" said Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton.

<snip>

On the other hand if GWB has lied and continues to lie about TANG, it is worth having Kerry surrogates point that damning fact out.

6. The last four years is precisely what the election should be about.
Two or three things from each of Bush's first three years should be focused on and repeated and repeated and repeated. They need to be simple and brief enough for someone who is completely politically unaware to grasp at a glance. And repeated and repeated and repeated.

For example:

First year:

First National Security Council of his administration was about invading Iraq. Seven months before 9/11.

Refused to accelerate any of the tax cuts even though there was strong bi-partisan support to do so because everyone realized the economy was slowing. Bush wanted to delay any economic stimulus until closer to the election for his own benefit even though he knew the economy was slipping into recession. Finally agreed to the $300 tax cut being accelerated. Promised X millions of jobs as result of tax cut.

Ignored the dozens of warnings of the upcoming 9/11 terrorist attack including the PDB titled (whatever the title was about bin Ladin striking in the US).

Second year:

Refused to allow oil and gas drilling off Florida's gulf coast while procaliming need for more oil and gas drilling. Blatant and hypocritical attempt to help Jeb win election.

Refused to even consider any compromise on energy bill even though bill would pass overwhelmongly if ANWR and a few other provisions were stripped out. Refused to consider viewpoints of tens of millions of Americans on this bill.

Refused to even consider any compromise on tax cuts even with overwhelmong deficits looming forever. Promised X millions of jobs.

Third year:

Abandoned Afghanistan and pursuit of bin Laden to invade Iraq. Has changed rationale for invasion six or seven times. Regardless of rationale, Afghanistan is deteriorating and bin Laden is recruiting.

Rumsfeld says we are creating more terrorists than we are capturing or killing.

Terrorist attacks worldwide increase since invasion of Iraq.

Job creation only a fraction of what Bush promised would result from tax cuts.

These are off the top of my head and much better items could be chosen, but I think they need to be brief and simple. The factual assertions need to be sourced also but I don't have time today to do that for the items I mentioned.
