There is nothing like losing money to get Republicans' attention.
The Madoff swindle has led Peggy Noonan to descry the "empty suits" who failed to fulfill their regulatory responsibilities which would have saved her friends trust funds. How ironic and despicable that it takes rich folks' wealth being eroded to interest RW flacks in what W's evisceration of government has done to the US.
The images of ill-equipped GI's, citizens of New Orleans begging for help on roof tops awash in flood waters and countless families forced from their foreclosed homes elicited yawns from the country club set. Now though with the assets of the wealthy at issue, the Republicans are wondering who was in charge. After vilifying government/regulation for decades, the chickens have come home to roost.
The heckuva job Brownie crowd is getting a lesson in the realities of hands-off government. You will pardon me if I don't feel that much sympathy for Peggy Noonan's friends' pain.

2. I have to say. The Republicans sure have fucked things up so badly...
even I'm shocked. My god, I don't want to hear a single Republican tell me they are afraid of Obama. It makes me want to laugh and scream and shake some sense into them. They are blind, except when it comes to their bank accounts, and even then, even the poorest Republicans I know think they are going to win the lottery or Jesus is going to dump loads of cash on their doorstep because they are such awesome, righteous, church-going people, so fuck the poor. How do you reason with someone chooses to be deaf, dumb (as in stupid) and blind?

8.  I know a lot of Republicans who are decent people in their
personal life but they embrace an extremely damaging political philosophy. The lack of empathy is quite astounding especially for those that make such a show of their religiosity. I have concluded that at the heart of their allegiance to the GOP is an absolute terror that someone, somewhere will somehow get some of their money. What a pathetic way to go through life. Maybe now some will see the light and recognize that government is not the root of all evil and that the unfettered market is a recipe for disaster.

more than 8 years. YOU didn't give a damn while the WH and your wealthy friends were screwing the american people. Payback is a bitch, it is going to get worse, BUT tell your friends you'll still love THEM even if they're poor.

I watched for years as they praised and bragged about bush and the economy. Is their some video where I can see Peggy Noonan and Mort Zuckerman crying about what they lost..

9. Suddenly "regulatory responsibilities" are important? They
don't give a shit about all the job loss we've experienced or the people living under bridges in tent cities....my how the tune changes when they are negatively impacted.
