Where is the USAToday story explaining the 2 new memos????
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 11:47 PM by discopants
Why did the previous threads today have a link to the 5 memos, with the 2 new ones being so important, yet I can't find squat at USAToday.com except for an article from 9/10? No mention at all of the two new items.

The article has "Text from the memo" and lists the previous three that CBS released, but the PDF download has the two new ones. What gives? Did USAToday release these on their own or are they also from CBS?

Did Dan Rather mention anything today? I see nothing at CBSNews.com.

Is a 'quiet' release of these significant? Is CBS playing the strategy that an Internet buzz is going to drive the story?

1. There are 6..
The original 4 which CBS showed and 2 new ones.

I wasn't able to find a story either, and wonder where it came from.

6. There are two different things...
The US News and World report article

and

The USA Today pdf memos

I think what has happened is that the two have been melded into one in people's minds.

7. USA Today got the documents directly from the source
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 01:07 AM by CityDem
USA Today won't reveal the source. It appears that CBS did not use all of the documents in their 60 Minutes story.

USA TODAY obtained copies of the documents independently soon after the 60 Minutes segment aired Wednesday, from a person with knowledge of Texas Air National Guard operations. The person refused to be identified out of fear of retaliation. It is unclear where the documents, if they are real, had been kept in the intervening three decades.
