Gay activists outraged over Warren invite

<snip>
"I'm encouraged that President-elect Obama would select Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration," Land told Baptist Press. "First, it is a signal that President-elect Obama is going to employ a big-tent philosophy in his administration's approach to people who may disagree with them on some issues, but not others. His selection of Rick Warren indicates that people who disagree with the president-elect on sanctity of life issues are not automatically persona non grata at the White House in an Obama administration. It also indicates that the president-elect is not buying the radical homosexual activists' argument that anyone who opposes them on the gay marriage issue should be ostracized as a bigot."...

Bolding is mine. Bottom line: the SBC sees Warren being chosen for this honor as a positive step forward for their beliefs.

3. I still think Obama should have chosen Barry Lynn
This is going to bite him on the butt during Inauguration Day, for sure.

13. I second that - Warren is part of the problem and not part of the solution to equal rights.
The the whole issue to me - if he hadn't said what he did about gay marriage we would have never known what his true feeling are. I am very disappointed with this choice!

11. Nope, they'll just be farting and belching and ruining dinner as always.
They are supposed to have to learn manners before we invite them to the table.

Can't we set up a training table for them somewhere?

10. I'm sure this guy didn't see himself as a "bigot," either...
The earliest civilization of which history gives account is that of Egypt. The negro was always in contact with that civilization. For four thousand years he has had opportunities of becoming civilized. Like the wild horse, he must be caught, tamed and domesticated. When his subjugation ceases he again runs wild, like the cattle on the Pampas of the South, or the horses on the prairies of the West. His condition in the West Indies proves this...The Southerner is the negro's friend, his only friend. Let no intermeddling abolitionist, no refined philosophy, dissolve this friendship.

George Fitzhugh (1854)

15. Well they also think the rapture is imminent, man walked with dinosaurs,
Noah gathered 2 of every animal and floated around in a boat for 40 days, and that Jonah was swallowed by a whale then puked up on a beach.

Their "thinking" is not guided by facts, reason, or logic. So I don't really give a fuck what they think.

20. Of course, they ARE bigots.
Allowing Warren to do the invocation is being viewed as an implicit approval of his bigotry.

21. Radical homosexual activists?!
Wow...What exactly does one need to do in order to be a "radical homosexual activist?"

Are there secret meetings in basements, under a cloak of darkness? Is there a secret handshake, or a "Gay Manifesto" of some sort, outlining the platform?

Sounds like a whole lot of paranoid whimsy from the "flat earth" crowd again.
