The Warren pick is a genius move
The Warren pick is a genius move. It further cements Barack's position as the most brilliant political thinker that has ever existed.

And had Barack not picked Warren that would have demonstrated how committed he is to justice. In fact, he is more committed to justice than anyone who has ever lived!

And if Barack kicked around the idea of picking Warren but not made a decision yet it would demonstrate his profoundly thoughtful, prudent nature... the most prudent nature of any man in history!

Face it losers, whatever Barack does is the greatest thing that has ever been done. He's so much smarter than anyone else that there is no point in ordinary people trying to anticipate his moves.

The right thing to do is just wait for him to do something, and then figure out after the fact why it was the most fantastic thing ever done.

I've seen some extremely illogical contortions used by some posters here, to justify this move on Obama's part, that would make a Yoga instructor cringe.

17. It's a genius move to get a different Democrat elected in 2012 since I won't be
campaigning for him in 2012 if he keeps trying to be all things to all people, including to Republicans, fascists, homophobes, etc. while passing over brilliant Democrats.

I took 10 days vacation JUST to campaign for him door to door, which I did. I will not do that in 2012 if he finds it amusing to be putting fascists in posts of importance instead of putting Democrats, and if he thinks it's amusing to have right wing Republican homophobes honored in his inauguration.

30. I know you're wrong. Before I even got on DU about this issue... my entire family my friends were
all e-mailing one another in UTTER DISBELIEF about this shit.

There are plenty of EXCELLENT, BRILLIANT Democrats to put in his cabinet, but he chooses MORE OF THE SAME.

Then he insults the nation by having a homophobic, anti-abortion, hate-filled REPUBLICAN preacher who fought against our campaign to get McCain and Palin picked.

This is too much, really. We gave a lot of money and time to Mr. Obama's campaign and he thinks it's amusing to be ingratiating himself with the VERY PEOPLE who have destroyed our country and whom we've fought so hard to get out of our government.

31. it just sounds to me like you dont really understand inclusion.
Your doing alot of yelling which is primarily worthless.

As the President, he will have two possible courses of action. He can change white house policy back to pre bush in order to protect those of sexual orientation and he can push for a constitutional amendment. If your hoping for a constitutional amendment, then your wasting your time and frankly, thats what i think you are doing.

On the other hand, as a president, he can council and lead those on a state level. This of course requires an environment of inclusion, which of course you don't support.

Essentially, one of the gravest human frailties is the belief that being a victim of abuse insures that you yourself do not become the abuser. This of course is not true. You probably wish to oppress those who would oppress you.

32. If I had wanted Republicans in the cabinet, I'd have voted McCain....
If I'd wanted Rick Warren to speak at an inauguration, I'd have voted McCain.

If I'd wanted somebody to keep the taxes of the rich as low as Reagan made them, I'd have voted McCain.

That way I also would've avoided having to put my money into Obama's campaign, and would've used the 10 days vacation I campaigned door-to-door for Obama, for a real vacation instead.

I am now seeing that Obama is nothing more and nothing less than a politician, but one that believes in filling his cabinet positions and inauguration with Republicans.

26. I agree with you.
And I agree with Chris Matthews who believes that Obama is surrounding himself with people from all sides so he can then push a liberal agenda. It makes sense. He has an agenda and is now trying to get as many people as possible on his side in order to push that agenda. What would be the purpose of rewarding the left (Wasn't his win reward enough for God's sake!! I'm totally disgusted with the "I want it all" crowd!)...what would be the purpose of having an all liberal/progressive administration if it offends all the others who you will need in order to accomplish the things you want?????

Personally, I would prefer that there were no minister at the Inauguration, but that's my opinion and unlike others I don't insist that Obama does what I THINK BEST. Those people who think we need a minister are probably very happy with Warren. To me, and many, I'm sure, it's unnecessary. I wouldn't care if the minister were Wiccan, a Scientologist or whatever...because it's meaningless anyway...15 very forgetable minutes. I can't even remember a single minister at an Inauguration. I know it was usually Billy Graham, but I can't remember it.

Since I am clearly not smart enough to figure out Barack's moves even after they were made, they must be genius! FISA, that was beyond my meager thinking skills to figure out. Putting A DLC, Monsanto fan in charge of Agriculture was also well beyond my ability to reason. The Warren pick must be genius! It confuses me entirely.

Insulting me has always been good politics.

I question the panglossian apologist chorus who feel obliged to construct bizarre rationalizations for what is merely a cynical political move that is a calibrated, intentional insult to a lot of people who deserve better.

Just call it what it is. It's not the end of the world. (The inability to call a thing what it is, on the other hand, probably prerequisite to the end of the world.)

Normally this would have been aimed at me but

Obama is a genius and this is a fucking stupid move.

I am begining to feel that a couple of courses on Theology would have made Obama a little bit better rounded. To fuck up with both Wright and Warren is like hitting two holes in one.

But I won't be surprised if in the end he does find some upside out of it.

But there's right and then there's "right."

He's a remarkable man and doing a remarkable job.

But I have a very hard time imagining him extending himself for anything (or anyone) that is genuinely unpopular.

Ever.

And those who assume he will at some point are, IMO, naive.
