2. Yes, it will have an effect. Change is incremental and it's one step back.

I want anything to do with. It is disappointing that a man that is anti-gay and believes that a woman is to be subservient to her husband is given that honor. x(

4. This is ridiculous and you know it.
But yes, having Warren on stage gives moral support to those that push "hate the gays" message.

What next, Rev. Fred Phelps on stage too? Seriously, Warren and Phelps are not that far apart.

7. Legitimizing hatred affects votes, voters, and the law.

8. Yes, by helping a bigot like Warren market himself as a thoughtful moderate.
He's been remarkably successful at that, and soon he will receive the ultimate tribute an American preacher can get.

11. Nope but it does show that Obama for all his brilliance could have had
a few course in theology.

Warren is off the reservation.

He could have selected an academically established conservative for the invocation without having to go to Fuller graduate and biblical revisionist Warren.

Its not just that there is the GLBT issues its that he seems to be confiming Warren into the role that Graham had.

Its not a felony but it is still a mistep.

12. Rick Warren already accomplished that
with Prop 8. So what's you point with the snark poll?
Will his role set a bad example as we fight for equality? You bet your bippy.

13. I dunno. What do you think? I mean, Warren says things like this:
Rick Warren: But the issue to me is, I知 not opposed to that as much as I知 opposed to the redefinition of a 5,000-year definition of marriage. I知 opposed to having a brother and sister be together and call that marriage. I知 opposed to an older guy marrying a child and calling that a marriage. I知 opposed to one guy having multiple wives and calling that marriage.

Steven Waldman: Do you think, though, that they are equivalent to having gays getting married?

Rick Warren: Oh I do.

http://www.boxturtlebulletin.com/2008/12/16/7415

How could that possibly influence gay rights?

17. Where's the "other" or "don't know" options?
I don't know, but I do believe it creates an environment. Interpret that as you will.
