The fact that GLBT people have to EXPLAIN why this so beyond the pale with Pastor Rick shows
that this place is populated heavily by the GLBT "screw you" for our needs first it's breathtaking.

What a crew. Having actually to need to defend our outrage.

1. I'm more shocked that someone needs to explain it to the inauguration committee.

2. These are the same people who didn't make much noise
about how sad and outrageous it was that a majority in California actually voted to take away the rights of a minority group of human beings.

They were like, :boring:

3. This board is populated with too many enemies of GLBT people...
its not even funny, but I'm also not surprised.

5. I used to be a bit skeptical of this view.

7. At the very least, too many people are insensitive to GLBT people...
they simply don't care, and apathy is even worse than outright bigotry.

13. That's just another form of apathy...
Its easy to support equal rights when there's no risk involved for yourself or those you support, but its hard to support equal rights when its risky or can cost those you support some support of their own. One is the way of moral cowardice, the other of moral bravery.

9. History repeats itself.
What's the big deal about separate water fountains?

Why such outrage over whether or not your husband votes for you?

14. In the past DU was making great strides in encouraging GLBT members
But that stopped a few years ago. I feel ashamed of myself when I post here these days as I find myself complicit by participating with the enemy as DU consistently permits bigotry, insults, and "blame gays for any failures of the Democratic Party.

Please do not fool yourself in thinking that they are all just Gop disruptors promulgating the hate.

My brother voted for Obama and told me, "But I still hate fags." He is a Church going Democratic Party ticket voter. He would fit in quite well here.
