More gruel? More gruel? ANY gruel??
I didn't expect Obama to pick someone who was prominently against Prop 8.
I didn't think he would want to poke eyes on the "for" side.

However, on this extremely personal and important issue, why did he have to
poke gays in the eye? Why did he have to poke my eye on this?

You can call it political calculation. You can call my reaction overblown.
You can also call the selection insensitive and callous. At the very beginning of
the most important ceremony I may ever see, he puts up someone that makes
me look down and feel excluded again.

4. Not just a poke in the eye to gay people. Warren is opposed to abortion in all situations.
Not even the life of the mother is enough for Warren to concede that an abortion might be ok. Warren believes that the earth is 6,000 years old and wants that taught in schools. He is against the teaching of evolution.

Out of the thousands of ministers in the nation, Obama had to pick this one?

11. He's just trying to prove he is not a Muslim like how the other half the world thinks.
Obama is going to be damned either way and, damn it, he's not even been sworn in yet.

12. I wish that Democrats would stop abasing themselves.
Rick Warren has never been a friend or ally to Obama, and inviting him to give the invocation at the inauguration is not going to change that. Instead, it's just a nasty slap by Obama against a minority.

Too bad.

14. That didn't compute.
He could have chosen a very prominent Christian who wasn't
so vociferously behind Prop 8. If that will prove he's not Muslim????

9. It's not overblown. You've been insulted.
Warren's "moderate" stance is earned because he wants to smile while denying you your civil rights.

It's no consolation, I know, that in the long run the fight for your rights will end up in your favor. It will take years to get there, but in the end history will justify you and bury the Rick Warrens. But that said, I'm sorry that the guy I voted for just decided to slap you in the face. You don't deserve that and he's wrong for giving even a smiling hater a place of honor at the inaugural.

17. I don't think the reaction is overblown.
I think the reaction to the reaction shows insensitivity. Making gay people the "buzzkill" on this issue is mean. Democrats should stand with each other. Human rights are not some "purist frill".

18. It feels like I've finally come to a place
that I consider home, only to have someone invite a person
over who has compared me to someone who practices incest,
child rape, and polygamy.
Yet, I am supposed to be comfortable here when that is accepted.
I don't think so.

Would be nice to see someone speak after Warren who could speak to progressive values.
