Beccera Turns Down Job of US Trade Representative
Becerra's out

Rep. Xavier Becerra tells the editorial board of La Opinion that he has turned down the job of U.S. trade representative, having concluded -- trade watchers take note -- that trade won't be the first, second, or third priority of the Obama administration.

1. A shame but he's a force for progressivism in the House so we've lost nothing....

I really liked the sound of him...I was hoping he would take it. But hopefully that at least means Obama doesn't plan to push any new trade deals. As much as I respect Obama and agree with him on most things I think his instincts lean a little more toward free trade than I would like.
