The unaired Rev. Wright ad from the McCain campaign
The unaired Wright ad

Brian Ross gets a copy of the Jeremiah Wright ad McCain never aired, which aimed for a biographical contrast between McCain's heroism and Obama's staying at Trinity.

I've always been skeptical that this was such a silver bullet, and the fact that the National Republican Trust PAC's similar spot -- which aired heavily, nationally, in the closing days of the race -- had no impact appears to bear that out.

Though you can imagine a very different campaign in which McCain started building this case much earlier.

1. Say what you will about McCain, but he didn't go low enough to race-bait with the Wright bullshit.
I know at the end there were the RNC ads, but McCain could have gone that route much earlier, and he didn't.
