NEWSFLASH: Barack Obama NEVER said he wouldn't be smoking in the White House...
He said, "You will not see" him smoking in the White House. There is a difference, and it's a big one. :hi:

I wonder why people keep substituting what they *want to hear* for what he *actually says*.

1. NEWSFLASH: Who the fuck really cares?
This isn't directed just at you, LaydeeBug, but at everyone who keeps posting this nonsense when there are millions of people losing their jobs and millions who are still fighting for their basic civil rights. If the guy wants to smoke, let him smoke so long as he gets the job we hired him to do done.

We need a lot fewer discussions on smoking and hypo-allergenic puppies and more on the economy and human rights. This level of intimacy with Obama's personal life is little more than fandom.

5. Yes it is
It's an amazing thing to witness. Especially among people who claim to be a part of the well informed electorate.

It's shameful how petty people can be. As you said, they are some big issues facing this country.

9. I understand your sentiment...but
Edited on Mon Dec-08-08 12:31 PM by LaydeeBug
there has been a lot of talk regarding people substituting their personal aspirations for Obama's rhetoric. This is a smaller scale example of that very thing happening. (Hope that makes sense, and no, I am not interested in rehashing what he *technically* has said as opposed to what other people decided he meant).

4. Please
Anything to criticize. Laura Bush smokes and no one says anything about it. Oh I forgot, she's a Republican, can't talk about Republicans.

6. Isn't smoking banned in the WH?
And if that's the case, Obama should abide by that.

8. I'm only pointing out what he *actually* said, which is different from the M$M and many here
are saying. He said "you won't see" him smoking. He did NOT say he wouldn't be smoking.

11. I'm glad he smokes. It makes him look manly and smart.
And it will give his children something to look forward to when they come of age. And he probably smells all smokey. And he can probably get a good promotion deal.
