Jeb Bush "considering" run for Senate seat to replace retiring Martinez
Edited on Wed Dec-03-08 09:11 AM by ClarkUSA
David Schuster on MSNBC just now. If true, Jeb will be hard to beat in 2010. He wants to be 45, alright.
2016, here he comes. Gee, imagine another Bush v. Clinton contest? Oy.

3. I would bet that the "dynasty" complaint won't be bandied about
in 2012 like it was for 2008 ...

"Oh, I'm sick of every election being Bush Clinton Bush Clinton ..."

If it is, it won't be by the "mainstream media" ...

5. Don't be so sure of that.

Jeb has been quite a bit more popular here than his brother, Junior. I believe he will probably win if he runs. I'd love to see Robert Wexler get it, but I don't believe he has a chance. Far too liberal for Central, Western, and Northern Florida and I doubt that people in those areas even know him well or at all. He is a super Congressman (and I'm proud to say he is MY congressman), but he sadly has little chance of winning state wide. I hope I'm wrong about that and I'll do my best for him if he runs.

9. The media constantly reminds us how "popular" Jebthro was/is even today.
Lots of Florida's current woes can be tied to Pumpkin Head and his policies but fat chance that'll get much play from the lap dogs should he run.

You are correct about Wexler and the political views of the state overall. Bu$hies know all too well how to marginalize the dreaded "liberal" and barring a miraculous shift of consciousness he would take a drubbing.

Then again two years from now....who knows? :-)

7. I hope you're right, but didn't he leave office with sky-high approval ratings?
Also, I'll bet Crist will be campaigning like crazy for him. And we already know voting machines heart Bushes.

11. What's to say Crist won't be running against him?
If Jeb and Crist both run, I don't even think Jeb would make it out of the primary -- and no matter who did, they would come out of it bloodied and cash-strapped. If the Dems can coalesce around a candidate in 2010 and that GOP primary fight happens, the Dems have a better shot than a lot of people think.

13. That's interesting, but it's pointless to speculate because Crist has shown no interest.
But Jeb... he's the GOP's best hope IMO. I doubt Crist is willing to go up against the Bush/Rove machine.

14. I think you might be misunderestimating Crist's ambition.
I agree Jeb would be a tough opponent in Florida, but I do disagree with people who constantly reiterate how popular he is here. I don't think there's any current approval polls of the man, and I suspect his popularity has been largely eclipsed by Crist.

17. I hope you're right. I'd enjoy seeing Jeb's POTUS stepping stone be crushed by Crist.
Edited on Wed Dec-03-08 12:14 PM by ClarkUSA
But if I'm right, we're looking at Bush 2016 v. Clinton 2016, as the only political dynasty more pathologically
ambitious than the Clintons are the Bushes.

16. HE NEVER loved his wife. he married for pure business
he knew from the get go she would help him with latino voters. The guy speaks perfect spanish and pretends to be compassionate and caring about our issues. He is a freaking ship. Can't stand her. If he runs he will surely win the Latino voters, unfortunately. Latinos are very gullible which really pisses me off.

2. Politico is so weird...all of their email confirmations, "sources"etc.
here's the article

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1208/16155.html

Jeb: I am considering Senate run

Bush told Politico by email Tuesday night: “I am considering it.”

A source close to Bush said he'll be thoughtful and methodical about the decision-making process. He will consider the impact a race would have on his family and his business and whether or not the U.S. Senate is the best forum from which to continue his advocacy for the issues on which he’s focused, such as education, immigration, and GOP solutions to health care reform.

6. "thoughtful and methodical"?
He's kidding, right?

This country needs a break from anymore Bush family members...even shirttails. Even friends of the family. Even people from the same town.

Stop this madness.

12. Privitization is that a-hole's middle name.
The reason that so many of our state agencies are such a mess is because that POS privatized huge chunks to the bidders of his choosing.
