Sorry, I for one am not giving up my state or my rights without a fight.
I hope others who seem to be giving up tonight are just taking a moment to breathe before beginning the fight.

Brewer has less than two years - we can stop her on many issues if we stay diligent and active.

1. I agree but since I'm not in AZ, what rights do you feel are threatened? n/t

2. Abortion.
They claim that Jan Brewer, Napolitano's replacement, will lead the way for Arizona to ban abortion. I don't think that would actually be possible, but I'll keep a close on on it!

9. They will rescind Napolitano's directive granting benefits to same-sex couples working for the state
They've promised as much.

4. Good for you.
reading the defeatist posts of some other AZ dems on DU you would think Napolitano elected herself. I'm sure there are enough good folks in Arizona who are not ready to give up because she got promoted to the national stage.

6. A good attitude, AZBlue. I am very unhappy about this selection, but you are right to vow to make
the best of your situation.

This is the one appointment announced today that I'm very displeased with. Leaving a state in the hands of a Republican governor should have been unthinkable. I don't even live in AZ, but this is very annoying.

Fight on, Arizonans. We're behind you. Even though I'm grumpy about it.

7. The heat must fuck up Zonies brains
Fifteen years ago it was the Ev Mecham/Rose Mofford fiasco, now this. (Also Symington/Romney/that crazy old mayor lady, the dickhead Phx Chief of Police) Is it too many, "I got mine fuck the rest of you" retirees? Nothing personal but I half hope the state becomes the laughing stock of failed repuke policies. If you can't get rid of Sheriff Joe you may need a complete meltdown for some to get it. As always, your economy is going to take it much harder than the rest of the Nation. Sorry for the gloomy outlook, but the State has been a fucking mess forever. My suggestion, if you don't live in Tempe or Tucson, move there or get the hell out.

8. Azblue - I am not giving up either - and hope you didn't get
the wrong impression from my thread.

Infact - quite the opposite. I am ready for the fight.

I say when Brewer takes office, we all spend more time in the Az forum.
We're going to have a busy couple of years.

10. For sure, payday loan sharks will be able to continue.
Voters shot down the initiative, funded by the industry, that would have extended their ability to charge usurious rates indefinitely. Now the Lege (full of Republicans in the pocket of the payday loan cos.) will get to vote on the sunset provision. :(
