Remember when everyone here was bashing CBS for not airing the Moveon Ad?
Just thought I'd remind people of that. Look, CBS is not on our side, but it's not on *their* side like Fox and CNN are. All CBS just did was remind us what real journalism looks like. See how surprised we are?

While it does go to show that honesty and openness can only hurt Shrub and Co. it doesn't mean that CBS is a liberal activist network.

1. I agree but I appreciate the honest factual reporting.
So much of the yellow journalism on news channels like Fox and CNN is so slanted! It was just good to see. It reminded me of the old days.

2. I for one dont want a liberal activist network
I dont want a conservative one either.

At this point, I would just settle for a nonlazy, seek out the real issues, dont fall for the crap network.

Unfortunately one doesnt seem to exist.

CBS screwed the pooch on this thing by not locking down their proof before showing it, it was lazy reporting and journalism, and even if the document is real, because of their laziness the effect has been wasted because now few actually will ever believe it to be real, even if shown to be.

3. Honest journalism is all I ask
Honest journalism keeps both sides honest.

What we have today keeps both sides crooked.

4. no delusion re: "our side" -- but CBS showed the emperor wears no clothes,
and that kind of "naked" truth is more than a passing fancy here ...

5. I don't want liberal news
I want news. REAL news. Factual news. The news should be impartial and equally merciless to both sides. I don't want anything sugar-coated for me, I want to know what's going on, dammit.

The thing is, with so many networks playing corporate and government spin-machine, I'm willing to embrace any network that's willing to TRY to hold onto its integrity. Everything's been so heavily pro-* that anything outside of that norm has become good evidence of impartiality.

If I felt a network was turning into a Dem PR department I wouldn't be any more impressed with them than a Rep PR department, and that's the truth.

but they aren't pro liberal. they are in a fight with the white house though. and that is cool by me. not out of altruistic reasons though.

wont hurt us to have an all out fight in the media. and as i have said, this...has nothing to do with dems. we are not in this fight. tis theirs

7. Isn't news and advertising handled by different people
Maybe we shouldn't be extolling the virtues of CBS as a whole, but the News department should be given their props for pursuing this story.

10. CBS didn't run the MoveOn ad on Medicare, but it did run the Bush
Admin. ad on its sham Medicare bill.
