U.S. Census Bureau creates 1.2 million jobs
I received the following information from a friend today, and I am posting it here for the benefit of anyone seeking work:

The US Census Bureau has announced they are hiring Census Takers $18.00 per hour NOW. Anyone interested should apply at the U.S. Census Bureau or link to

http://www.census.gov/2010censusjobs/index.php or www.WUSA9.com

Please pass this information along to anyone you know needing a job for the New Year.

Sam

3. I have felt SO HAPPY all day just from hearing this news
It has been so long since we have had any economic good news (political, yes -- economic, no). I heard it right after Obama's press conference. He made many important statements during this conference, but toward the end he looked right into the camera and said, "We are going to put money in your pockets."

Something like this could be a godsend to those looking for a patch until better times arrive. And, of course, they will be hiring people to work local neighborhoods, so it will be nationwide!

Thanks for kicking this thread. I hope others will for the benefit of those looking for a little job relief.

Sam

5. Kick and thanks for posting
it was a nice, considerate and friendly thing to do and has saved me from leaving DU....there is so much negativity on here right now and I just want to be happy after suffering for eight years.

I know..TMI...but I just wanted to say I appreciate the positive and sharing nature of your post. It is an antedote to the rest of nastiness on here lately.

14. I don't know what is wrong with people
We should all be riding on Cloud 9 right now. A Democrat will be sworn in in January, and this Country will be making a comeback in so many areas. I believe Obama worked a miracle in winning this election in a margin that made the Republicans realize they could not steal the election this time.

Of course hard times are ahead, but we should all be supporting our guy because of his extraordinary success in taking back the Oval Office. I realize we won't all be elated over every decision he makes; he himself told us this before the election. But looking at the bigger picture, we need to support him and his cabinet to the highest degree possible and work for the benefit of the Country overall.

Thank you so much for deciding to stay at DU. You will find many thoughtful people here.

Sam

10. I worked the '90 Census
I wanted to work this one, but my brother in law is running the whole shebang in my state, so I don't think I can get a job there because of nepotism rules.

They are testing now, so if you need a job, make sure you call tomorrow - or ASAP.

16. Sending the link to my retired mom.
She's despondent every time her retirement earnings statement comes in lately; maybe this will give her some options and some hope.
