I feel less safe today because...(add to the list)
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 11:19 PM by xray s
Bush is dragging Zell Miller around the country, touting how much safer we are with Bush as President. No me, amigo.

Here are my reasons, add yours to the list. It'll probably be a long thread...

Bush ignored warning that bin Laden was determined to strike within the US

Bush tried to block the investigation into the causes of 9/11

Bush did not put the resources needed into Afghanistan to capture bin Laden and diverted them to Iraq, which has now been shown to be no immenent threat to the US

Bush failed to capture bin Laden at Tora Bora.

Bush has delegated the pursuit of bin laden to Pakistan, which is riddled with radical Islamic supporters

Bush doesn't have the courage to tell the American people that he has stressed our military to the breaking point and abused the role of the National Guard and Reserves.

Bush trusted, gave millions of dollars to, and was ready to install as president, Mr Chalabi who has been charged with passing intellegence to Iran.

Bush has covered up the involvment of Saudi nationals in 9/11

Someone in the Bush White House, for purely political reasons, blew the cover of an undercover CIA agent working on WMD proliferation.

Bush invaded Iraq with no plan for the aftermath, resulting in anarchy, the formation of terrorist havens within the country and a bloody resistence movement

Bush failed to provide adequate armored protection for our troops in Iraq

2. Because the percentage of children growing up
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 11:01 PM by robg
burdened by poverty and ignorance is skyrocketing in this country.

Because a simple accident or illness can wipe out a family's financial foundation in a matter of days.

Because I and many of my countrymen are one paycheck away from the poorhouse.

Because every day this country loses a little more of its freedom.

3. The House just defeated an Amendment to the appropriations ..
bill. Now, every child in America will be screened for mental health. I'm horrified. When I was a social worker, my boss ordered me to basically coerce a parent into putting their child on Ritalin. I refused. The case went somewhere else...the child was then put on Ritalin at 5! His developing brain was permanently affected! And the pharmaceuticals made a mint. Then, the child started losing weight...just like a methamphetamine addict. Ritalin is a dangerous stimulant.

And the Dems seem behind this Bush-backed plan!

I will move to Canada before they put my child on any of these things!

And trust me ... whether or not your child has a problem or not will be irrevelant.

Help with this guys! Psychiatrists only believe in the medical model of mental illness...$ for them and the pharma. industry! It's bad enough adults are convinced that they cannot change their lives without these pills..which frequently lead to suicidal feelings (in people that did not have them before). I had more psych classes that a psychiatrist (as an MFT-intern, M.A. Psych.)

What do you guys think?

4. Quite frankly, I am very troubled by
the evident demise of an independent media . I really felt that the media was interested in garnering the truth and watched out for everyone's interest.
The rise of Fox has really cast a pall and I feel that now our News Media is no truer nor more independent than Pravda was during the Cold War or than Goebbels' propaganda Machine was during the 30s and 40s.

I truly find that chiling and it surely makes me feel far less safe and secure.

5. Because never have statements as outrageously contrary to freedom & liberty
been so utterly unchallenged by anyone as "There are reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do. This is not a time for remarks like that. There never is."

When did I move to China?

6. Because Assault Weapons are now legal again!
I know that many think they should be. BUT, Do you hunt with a fully automatic weapon? Do you hunt with machine guns?
Wouldn't be much left to eat whey you got done.
I believe in the right to own and carry a gun but what do you need with an assault rifle?

7. Loose nukes. Loose anthrax killer.
Bush cut the budget for the non-proliferation funding.

They never got the anthrax killer.

8. PATRIOT Act
I feel much less safe with the govt. wielding powers the Founding Fathers never intended govt. to have. The Bill of Rights was written the way it was for very specific reasons, namely keeping would-be tyrants in check. God help us all.
