I have been wondering how I could do this, and I just got this email from BushRecall.org that allows you to volunteer to be a poll worker. I advise all that can to do this act of citizenry (is that a word??)...anyways, I worked at the polls in Florida's 2002 election (Bush v. Reno) where I set up the server for DEIBOLD that collected the results from each pricinct...I then printed out the reults for the Supervisor of Elections and sent a live feed out to the media room....was really cool...this isnt that intesnsive...just monitoring the polls, providing language assistance if you are bilingual, making sure the laws are followed, etc. They especially want lawyers to volunteer for this, but of course anyone can...the reason for the lawyers, obviously, is so that if there is a legal issue, it can maybe be cleared up quickly, or at least there is a legal representative there for any future litigation.
