The way I see it, any story that relates to the political process of our nation is public domain and should be freely available in all forms - internet, tv, radio, print, etc. This is an extremely important piece of information regarding the upcoming Presidential Election, so if CBS came after me, Ill take them to the Supreme Court if I can (where Id lose, but at least make a point). So, yes, transcribe away! lol.

Dear CBS News,

I will admit that I would like nothing more than to see Bush voted out of office this coming November, there have been too many times where what should have been damning evidence against this administration in general, and George W. Bush in particular, which has either been ignored, or quickly suppressed. I admire your willingness to report the story about the recently revealed TANG documents. I am especially glad that you had initially researched the story thoroughly, and not quickly put it out without fully checking its veracity. Too many news reports nowadays rely on innuendo and unsubstantiated reports as "news", and I am glad that CBS is holding themselves to a higher standard.

32. Interesting comparison between this and Swift Boat Liar response

Great video clip -- I posted the link on my blog.

An interesting comparison can be made to this case, in which CBS's credibility was on the line, with how they treated the charges of the Swift Boat Liars. Those charges hung out in the public arena and were mindlessly repeated ("reported") by the mainstream media for about a week and a half before the NY Times finally debunked them. I don't know that CBS ever did fully debunk the Swift Boat Liars. But at least dusted they off their rusty journalistic skills and went to work on this story.

CBS does deserve to note of appreciation on this -- I'm going to email them on a job well done (at least this time).

But specialists interviewed by the Globe and some other news organizations say the specialized characters used in the documents, and the type format, were common to electric typewriters in wide use in the early 1970s, when Bush was a first lieutenant.

Once he compared the Bush memos to Selectric Composer samples obtained from Interpol, the international police agency, Bouffard said his view shifted.

I went to your site. I saw the CBS video on your channel one, which may be on dicey ground legally speaking. Maybe you'd get away with some sort of fair use exemption. Then I saw your channel six. so, if I read this right, if you use program your vchip to block the local affiliate from access it, somehow, affects the local affiliates but I don't know how it would affect it anymore than a boycott.

but I think this issue is far from over. I can't believe that so many people can't recognize a stonewalling/whitewash tactic. ABC, NBC and the Washington Post, just to name a couple of sources, are reporting the other side of this issue.. basically that the documents are bad fakes and CBS had rushed headlong into this thing and is now in damage control mode trying to defend it. Everyone wishes this were an airtight case against dubya, but unfortunately CBS botched it. :(

In addition to the documents, Killian's son and widow both have said that the whole document issue is not anything he would have done, either in the opinion or the method. Whether or not they have been bought off is another issue. Personally I think CBS has ben had.
