What Do You Think of Kerry / Dem/ Liberal groups ads?
I have seen some GREAT commercials, & some suck big time.

A great commercial: people talking about they cannot survive on jobs being created @ $7.00 per hr, no benefits. Simple, straight, effective, easy to remember. (DNC Ad)

A great commercial: Patriot Act, people talking about losing freedoms; fix the Patriot Act, so we can be SAFE & STRONG! Simple, straightforward, easy to remember. (ACLU AD)

A Kerry Commercial: $200 billion spent in Iraq, do not remember the details, the voice over sounds like some scary guy from a slasher movie. Everytime the commercial plays, it gets my attention, because the voice is so terrible. (Kerry Campaign)

In summation, many people get their info from ads. I think some of the campaign ads have been wonderful & very effective, but usually run by people outside the Kerry campaign. Whoever is doing his ads is doing a crappy job, in my opinion.

1. I agree unfortunately
Kerry ads have no impact. These folks don't know how to fight.

2. From what I've seen..
Kerry's ads are following a very basic and boring political ad formula. They spit-out statistics that shed a poor light on the Bush administration, hoping to tie Bush to those reality underlying those statistics.

Still, his commercials are totally unmemorable. He needs another element: humor. Kerry needs to make his point in a funny manner. If people can laugh with Kerry at Bush's feeble policies, it accomplishes at least three things:
1) it gets voters more comfortable with Kerry. If they can laugh with him about these things, they're more prone to be comfy with him, and thus they're more likely to vote for him. Voters will remember these ads in the voting booth more easily, and they'll more likely vote based on them.
2) it's an effective and non-mean-spirited method of making Bush an object of ridicule. If the ads are based on the truth, then they're perfectly fair game.
3) a funny ad will get more free air play from the talking heads shows. This aids in spreading the effects of 1 and 2, and it gets more mileage for the ad dollars spent.

Humor is probably the most under-used weapon in politics today. Kerry's media team would be well-advised to recognize this.

3. Spitting out statistics is not exactly riveting.
Humor is a good idea.

But an ad should have a memorable line..

some sort of hook...

these ads are pretty bad, IMO.

Incidentally, Bush ads are just as bad.
