...get back to being good again now that they're surely pissed about this letter crap.

Dave was great when he showed the bored kid at the Bush speech. That whole week was phenomenal, and then they really were doing great stuff showing clips from Bush speeches.

But now that they do that thing with pasting together parts of speeches to say things, I've become very disappointed.

It was funny when the let Bush hang himself with the truth, and it's even funny when they poke fun at Kerry for some of his statements. (Maybe they had to stop because they couldn't be fair and balanced 'cause Kerry wasn't saying enough stupid stuff.)

For example last night, they clipped Kerry together to say, "When I'm president/nobody will/go to college." I watched last night and the night before to hear the "OBGYNs sharing their love" comment, which they almost definitely would have played a couple weeks ago, before the changed.

Not only is this editted-together thing the easiest kind of humor, it's telling a total lie. Something like a million people have dropped out of college or changed their plans to go to college since Bush became president, and it's no accident. Furthermore, people tend to vote Dem as they get more education, so it'd be absurd for any Democrat to not do everything they could to get people through college. But there's Dave, making Kerry say things during a week when Bush is saying other BS about Dems, like their tax plan will hurt jobs. It made me incredibly mad.

What is up? For a long time you could count on Dave to mix it up - now there is almost more Bush funny stuff over at Leno - though that is pretty damn painful to watch.

4. CBS News is an independent department

It was set up that way to avoid the kind of corporate pressure that is being brought to bear on the entertainment departments. That's why they dropped the Reagan movie but published the Abu Ghraib torture scandal. Different departments. Different pressures.

Letterman is being leaned on by Viacom because they want to keep the monopoly of major media being controlled by six corporations going, and they know Bush loves monopoly.

been tuning in to see what he would do with the OBGYN comment but nothing so far.

He was never shy about taking on CLinton's sex life so this should not be too scary for him.,

3. I totally agree. I don't care for the doctored videos, either.

If Letterman relied on actual gaffes for humorous videos, he would only have material for the coWard. He wouldn't have any material for Kerry.

My guess is that Letterman got mail from Repugs who thought he was picking on the coWard. Letterman's staff had to come up with something that would create a running joke aimed at Kerry; they came up with this editing garbage.
