NEW YORK, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Later today, CBS News will address on the air and in detail the issues surrounding the documents broadcast in the 60 MINUTES report on President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard. At this time, however, CBS News states with absolute certainty that the ability to produce the "th" superscript mentioned in reports about the documents did exist on typewriters as early as 1968, and in fact is in President Bush's official military records released by the White House. This and other issues surrounding the authenticity of the documents and more on this developing story will be reported on tonight on THE CBS EVENING NEWS WITH DAN RATHER.

..is that the note could have been typed up on a typewriter to look the way it does. If that can be done (and I assume it could) then that's the end of the whole nonsense that these are forgeries.

All the naysayers have been regurgitating nonsense about fonts and typewriters while ignoring the fact that White House acknowledged these documents after CBS sent it to them. If they knew for a fact that what's mentioned in them did not happened; they would have claimed them a fake from day 1

But I'm a little concerned that the statement focuses on the superscript. Is that all they've got? There are a lot of other issues that they need to address and the superscript thing is hardly the most serious.

Address some of the claims on the "forgery", let the WH think that's all they've got, then WHAM, release the pile of documents typed on the same typewriter with Killan's signature they have, some of which must exist in Pentagon files as well right after the WH decides to chime in that they're forgeries, too.
