CNN is now a real danger to democracy. Everyone knew FOX was biased while
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 03:39 PM by blm
most people innocently ASSUMED that CNN was just a news outlet.

CNN is proving to be more than just a mouthpiece for the Bush administration. It has become one with them. Just about every process story is spun against Kerry. His overwhelming crowd support is never reported while Bush is made to appear as the exalted leader with his lesser crowds.

Kitty Kelley was used often as a panelist on CNN shows. Watch how little you see of her on CNN after next week. I submit there will NOT be any indepth interviews of any serious length.

Psychics will get more airtime.

They will refer to her book only as a point of controversy while ignoring the substance of the revelations.

We just have to fight them back and WIN IT ON THE GROUND GAME.

We're smarter and we're RIGHT. They're WRONG.

Fortunately, it's ratings have been in the toilet. Probably not coincidentally.

13. Ask newsguyatl about this................
I also read on this site several months ago that there was an NSA or Department of Defense staffer assigned to CNN who looks over and approves their newscopy before it is broadcast.

I wonder if the other networks have or know about the gov't censorship staffers.

26. It's my understanding it's SOP will all major networks
I know for fact it's the case at CNN - one of my siblings retired from there (pretty high up) and confirmed this years ago ... I understood that major network news had to do this.

5. Watch CBS if you want both sides of the issues.
CNN now leans too far right. Not as far right as Fox, but definately right of center. CBS gives by far the most balanced viewpoint.

18. But even CBS has fallen into infotainment and he said-she said
The est of a bad lot, though I would say that PBS still holds that pathetic title.

Of course, lost in all of this is not so much the left-right fight but the simple fact that "journalism" in Amerika has undergone negative sea changes regarding ethics, fact-checking, reporting methodologies and so much more.

Yes, it was driven by the Bushevik Sub-Media but THAT is the rub here, that and the death of the FCC regs that prevented the rise of Totalitarian Media inthe first place which is what they were designed to do and why the Busheviks have fought so long against what was preventing their dream of a docile, stupid and slavish bunch of Imperial Subjects of Amerika.

They still aren't fully there but they are close.

9. I no longer watch CNN
The other night I had on Headline News and they did a story about recent polls in battleground states. The only states they mentioned were the ones in which Bush was ahead!!

How bad does it have to get before people wake up and reject these media monsters?

19. Much, much worse, I am afraid
History suiggests that Imperial Amerika will indeed sink to the bottom.

The paradigm of the Superpower gone mad (like ancient Rome) suggests that no one will be daring enough and powerful enough to step in from outside as we did in WWII and stop the slide.

Bad times are most likely ahead. Times that make these seem like The Good Old Days when even a small sliver of Old America still remained.

Kerry? ;)

Your claim is sad but true. The media must be broken up if we are to have real democracy again.

15. CNN is barely a half step above Entertainment Tonight.
If I want to watch empty-headed Barbie and Ken dolls I`ll visit the toy aisle in a department store. I`ve had enough of CNN`s rah, rah, rah-ing for the Bush administration, especially now that one of their morning anchors, Daryn Kagan, is Rush Limbaugh`s new beau.

What we should do is have a massive email campaign informing them that we`ve all decided to hit the OFF button. Just wish them well in their effort to outfox Fox, then find another news source that at least attempts to report the truth.

16. Why is Kitty Kelly necessary?
Do you lack confidence that Kerry's stances on the issues of the day are not compelling enough to convince a majority of the voters that he is the best choice? Have we learned nothing for the Monica Lewinski episode?

the soundbites from the process stories. Issues be damned.

21. AOL Time Warner CEO, Jack Parsons
CEO Levin to retire from AOL Time Warner (Dec. 2001)
...
"Speculation during this time heightened that Parsons would take a position within the Bush administration, possibly as his commerce secretary. Parsons was passed up for the position, but nonetheless remained in service of President Bush by co-chairing his effort to overhaul Social Security."

22. This is the greatest danger to our country
Even more than Shrub's continuing in office for four more ugly years. Fox, CNN and the rest. Shrub will go, hopefully sooner rather than later, but the right-wing assembly line will keep churning out more of the same. First they bullied the TV networks into submission, now they have them on a leash. I know this creates a sort of helpless feeling; I write e-mails and letters to these spineless clowns and come away feeling generally frustrated. But, as blm said in his original post, we just have to win it on the ground.

24. You are SO right ....
I think this instance, the Bush memo 'Forgery' debacle put me over the top ....

CNN has WIDELY dismissed the memos as forgeries: Based on what ? ...

Wish ? ...

desire ?

CMon ! ... you are SUPPOSED to I N V E S T I G A T E ...

EVERYTHING that has gone wrong in our nation, can in one way or another be tied to our MEDIA failing to do it's job ....

CNN MUST do it's job of investigating FACTS ....

Our democracy depends on it ...

SOMETHING must be done ...

Ignoring them will not do ....
