I was absolutely overjoyed at Obama's election. However, the first thing he did really bothered me. He appointed Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff. I generally think I like the guy but the rub is that is the guy that pushed through NAFTA as everyone knows by now. So what happened to Obama's pledge to renegotiate NAFTA? What's the answer? I don't want to think that this was just a campaign ploy. Obama has really impressed me with his sincerity so far. I think he should not wait very long to explain this apparent confusion. The Chief of Staff has a lot of influence.

1. Rahm was carrying out President Clinton's agenda. That was his job.

It does not necessarily reflect his own ideology about trade, or Obama's. That said, I do have doubts about whether Obama really intends to renegotiate NAFTA...he does seem a little more inclined toward free trade than I would like. But in general I do think he has been more honest and sincere than most politicians, but it doesn't mean he's perfect.

2. Obama doesn't want to be surrounded by sycophants

He has always said that he will stock his cabinet with the best people for the job, not with people who agree with him 100% of the time. He likes to both listen to and debate with people who disagree with his policies to test them and make sure that he feels they are right.

8. Yes, as we saw in the election Barack prefers to be challenged & mostly for anyone it's how we grow.

Hang tight, Obama has it covered. Oh, you're not gonna like some of it - neither am I. That's ok, there's a boatload of work to be done. Note: May include sacrifice and pain.

Otherwise, I'm sure that his next appointment will be a disappointment to you as well.

After all, some folks are predispositioned to be unhappy as an excuse, considering that this President, like any other, is not going to make each and every move in order to keep you happy.

Get real, or you might as well stop supporting him now.

5. He can get Obama's objectives done. Really good choice.

6. I think the Rahm pick is a masterstroke in his new slot he is more Barack's assistant and not DLC of

the congress. If Rahm has this forceful personality things will get done for Barack so it's all how you look at it really. Taking Rahm out of the congress automaticlly makes it more progressive.... I think Barack's early moves are genius and more impressive as we go along. The rumor that Robert kennedy will head the EPA is outstanding news too. Napolitano as AG perfect if it comes to frution the DoJ will be backin shape in no time.
