Reid and Lieberman, what and some DUers don't understand...
You guys just applauded in a President Elect Obama who wants CHANGE and a bi-partisan atmosphere. Obama has reached out to his opponents and was gracious. Obama isn't going to practice the politics of division nor is he out to punish folks and I don't think he'll want the democratic party to do that either.

Reid has made the decision to oust Lieberman from his chairmanship. Just cuz Reid won't ram a 10ft pole up Lieberman's ass and run him out of the democratic caucus doesn't make him a bad leader. In fact it makes him the type of leader that Obama wants in the party.

Why is it that some people are having problems understanding that Reid did make a fucking decision? He told Joe he's gotta let it go and step down. Yet all I see are posts about how Reid must go and Reid sucks, Reid can't lead and , Reid can't make a decision. Those posts make no goddamned fucking sense.

Reid is ousting Trader-Joe by giving him an out while trying not to embarrass his ass. That is leadership. That is CHANGE. That's your new politics.

Seems to me that people here need to start living the example that Obama is setting forth, though I doubt it will happen.

Oh...and if you're wondering...no actions will be taken against Bushco under Obama either. So, go ahead and get that fact under your belt.

7. You're probably right, but let me explain something to you....
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 05:51 PM by nomaco-10
most of us felt as if somebody pulled the rug out from under us eight long years ago when the election was blatantly stolen. We had to sit and watch an illegal, immoral war unfold while 80% of this country cheered it on. We huddled here for comfort and tried to keep each other sane while our patriotism was called into question daily.

Then we saw the constitution trashed and the Patriot Act installed. Illegal wiretapping, torture was accepted as the american way and I could go on and on.

This time we thought we had a chance and everyone held their breath for nearly two long years. Joe Lieberman tried to do everything he could to stop that chance and shatter our dreams. So let us blow off a little steam when it comes to joe lieberman. I can't think of anybody that deserves our dispespect and derision any more.

Fuck the "new politics". It isn't like Lieberman just voted a few times with Bush, he ENDORSED John McCain. He SPOKE at the Republican Convention. He condemned the Democratic nominees.

11. Party Discipline is not letting everyone do what they want especially
attacking the leader of the party. Homeland security needs to go he can
still caucus but his power needs to be removed. He has let Homeland Security
Rob this nation. He has done a lousy job on his chair.

13. Change could also be seen as doing something about the problems within
our own party. What does it say about the Democratic party if "one of our own" is allowed to go out and trash our party and our President? Joe was hanging onto McCain's coattails hoping to catch a ride into the administration and out of the Senate. Joe's been beating up on his own party for years now.

One thing that the Repukes have over us is party loyalty. I'm not saying we need to be assholes like them but we DO need to circle our wagons against the enemy, even if that enemy calls himself a Democrat.

Anyway Lieberman does not practice bipartisanship. He sides with is ego more than with doing what is right for this country.

20. Lieberman deserves everything he gets
That being said, I agree with you that it's classy of Reid to give Joementum the chance for a dignified exit (I myself would not be so generous if I was Senate Majority Leader)...whether Lieberman will make a graceful exit, or go out like a whining baby, remains to be seen.

As long as Lieberman as made as irrelevant as possible in the new Senate. Hopefully in 2012 he'll just retire and go away.
