I think that is fair.

Put it another way... If McConnel attempts to offer Lieberman Ranking Member on Homeland Security it would supplant Collins, We could offer Collins the chair if she switched parties.

5. Collins just got re-elected by a large margin; she's not changing parties!
This was a big mistake for Maine but it's what we've got. She;ll only become worse now.

7. If Maine had wanted a Democrat in the Senate
they would have elected Tom Allen.

8. Sounds good to me!
Lieberman endorsing McCain was one thing. However, I think he crossed the line by campaigning for down ticket Republicans.

9. I thinkthe endorsement was on principle
and I can accept that.

The downballot campaigning ans the speech at the RNC was way over the line.

11. Agreed.
I hope Lieberman didn't actually think that he would keep his chairmanship. Surely he isn't that naive.

10. I'm not the biggest Ben Nelson fan, but he's basically the counterpart
of New England Republicans--they have to be more "blue", he has to be more red. So, I'll live with Nelson.

12. Relax on the moderate Dems
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 03:37 PM by kwolf68
Others are coming. Kay Hagan, Mark Warner to name two...if we flip Georgia, one more...I am at ease with moderates to be honest. It's why our party is growing. We are not rejecting moderate voices in the party. The Repukes are and now they are going the way of the DoDo bird.

13. Snowe and Collins would only become Independents
I think the best we could hope for from either Snowe or Collins would be for them to caucus with the Democratic majority while inserting "I's" after their names, similar to Jeffords.

And in the case of Collins, only if she loses her committee ranking membership to Lieberman, if Holy Joe bolts for the GOP Caucus.
