Wesley Clark Files 5,000 Nomination Petition Signatures in Illinois

Springfield, IL—Grassroots supporters of General Wesley Clark filed 5,000 nomination petition signatures, the maximum number allowed, with the Illinois State Board of Elections today, the first day of the filing period for the Illinois Democratic presidential primary on March 16. Volunteers throughout the state, many of whom were part of the "Draft Clark" movement, participated in the petition drive by collecting signatures.

"This is a great day for all of General Clark's supporters in Illinois, especially those of us who were part of the "Draft Clark" movement," said Adam Kingsley, a volunteer who delivered the petitions to Springfield. "We look forward to voting for him on March 16."

You only needed to get 5,000 total in Illinois? Damn, we had to get at the very least 1,000 in each congressional district in NY. Lucky Illinoisans(?) (And we did damn well for Dean in the 25th district :) )
