Official Election Hangover Thread

SoftwareEngineer | 11/05/2008 | SoftwareEngineer

Posted on Wednesday, November 05, 2008 2:54:40 AM by SoftwareEngineer

What an awful way to wake up this morning. I have a sense of disbelief about what has happened. I am trying to do my morning chores but I can physically feel my heart hurting and my head pounding. It is unreal. I feel I am not really living this and instead this is some hallucination.

And yet, the day must go on. I have to get ready, go to work and meet clients. So to get over this election hangover (and a fair bit of Glenlivet last night) I am going to do the following:

1. Pray 2. Go for a run 3. Not watch any TV or listen to any Radio 4. Take a giant Excederin for my headache

How is everyone else handling this? Please post what you are all doing to keep functioning

I had to go to “sleep”.
Part of it was just the fact that my brain could not process anything anymore.

This whole thing has been made worse by the freaking margins Obama won in some states.

A lot of DU members here on FR are going to mock me for being a sore loser. But I am NOT a sore loser. I am genuinely sad about a Socialist being elected.

I still remember the day when Clinton was elected first in 1992. I was sad because a lousy draft dodging pot smoking ex hippie was elected but I did not fear for myself or my safety.

That is the BIG difference in this election. I somehow feel that my family is “less safe” this AM. I don't know if I am the only Freeper that thinks like that or there are others but as of today I will be very cautious.

Utter disbelief. I haven’t been to bed, yet. I am so afraid for my kids and grandkids and yet unborn greatgrandchild. I am going to find a good church and start some counceling for me and my husband. Right now I am still numb.

Poor sad Freepers
}(

More: Notice the spelling of "klub". Love that Freeper spelling

Welcome to the klub.
America has been raped, thanks to a practically illiterate electorate.

We have a lot to thank GWB for.

He needs to abdicate early, take the RINOs with him and let our newly-elected master take the over the reins of a nation that once experimented with democracy.

With Obama in there will be no drilling for new oil, no missile defense system, abortion mills popping up like porno shops in our once polite cities and every day of his rule will seem like a drab, black and white day. The immigration from Somalia, Nigeria, Haiti, etc. will crowd our muslim cities and there will be no safe street to stroll.

We have been sold out.

Normally, I feel no compassion for the less-literate ones.

But this guy sounds a little bit educated, and I find myself understanding where he's coming from...

I mean, we said things similar to this when we lost...

We are all Americans, after all...

OK, flame away...

Terrorists, unAmericans, unpatriotic, questioning their citizenship. And when Gore and Kerry lost I moved on. I have very little sympathy for these people

25. I always feel the less intelligent are manipulated by the smarter ones. So I feel a bit more sorry
for the less literate.

The literate have no excuse. They should know better. And lets face it, it was some of the literate who said, "To heck with Palin, I'm voting Obama," and jumped ship. Buckley Jr and Colin Powell to name just a couple. This is evidence that they know better.

They are smart enough to remain politically relevant and viable. And they now see the danger they have brought on us and themselves.

So as they helped suck the country into military utopian adventures and sucked the country into ideologically induced economic and spiritual poverty, they will be around to let us know they sort of get it and to offer their further help. I hope they think things though a bit better this time.

Some of the other literate ones are still lying through their teeth. And the led just keep wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood.

..conveniently forgetting that he ignored the memo that warned of 9/11. The terrorist attack that has them still shaking in their little fucking booties, actually occurred during a Republican's term in office.

Somehow I think Obama would pay attention to it, if he received such a memo.

16. How sad! They just live in a constant state of fear, delusion, and paranoia.
What exactly has to happen in someone's genetic make-up to make them inclined to be this way?

It's just bizarre. How demented can you be to buy this "socialist" crap, and to be "afraid" of positive change?

They are paranoid and insane, and I almost feel sorry for them - but not quite, because all they do is spread hate. Being fearful and paranoid is one thing, but they spread HATE and that's why I just can't really feel for them so much, despite their crippling mental illness.

22. I think maybe it's a combo?
Bad environment/bad influence contributing to an already nervous/paranoid personality type?

There has to be a genetic component, because some people constantly exposed to RW hate speak reject it, while others embrace it, and there are fundamental differences in their overall personality type.

I think maybe it's a little of both?

19. Notice he had a 'fair amount of Glenlivet"
Only a repub!

No, I do not feel sorry for them. They kept their damn "W" and Bush-Cheney stickers on for a long time. They reveled in the rise of the anti-intellectual that was President 43. If they feel less safe, maybe they should move. Not just "on", but "out".

They have, BTW, totally and utterly ruined any relationship I have had with organized religion. I cannot stand the idea of "christian" being used as an "I'm better than you" or "My God can beat up your God".

They made me feel MORE than less safe. I made it through eight years. So can they. Only difference is, they will be in a better place in 8 years than we are after our 8 years in the diaspora.

What a bunch of douchenozzles. Even with Bush, who turned out to be a COLOSSAL failure, I wasn't literally AFRAID of him when he was first selected.
