she was built by the same machine -- the one that has been selling us plastic women of no substance as the ultimate achievement for women as sex objects. Notice the scorn and derision dished out to any woman with an opinion, who reads, etc? You see it in Hollywood and you see in in their politics.

And, just like they built those images up and made a ton of money off of them, when they are step out of line, they set them up to be eaten alive by the public. And the public obeys.

I can't say I mind watching Palin being destroyed publicly, if only to keep her and the things she stands for safely out of reach of the red button, but the way these patriarchal assholes use women in general is truly horrific. I know she asked for it, she begged for it-- much like Paris and Britney did. They all wanted the attention, the love, the adoration and the power and were more than willing to sell whatever semblance of a soul they had left to get it.

It's a game and the game never changes. She will be eaten alive, the feast will become so ugly and horrifying that finally a wave of public sympathy will wash up on the shores of this poor little rich girl's home in Alaska and by the time 2012 rolls around, she'll be pacakged as the little engine that could and stood up to the media elite.

get your barf bags ready, people. and in the meantime, watch on old movie from the '40's and marvel how women were thought to be sexy when they were smart. My, how far we've come as a culture. The backlash for independence should never be underestimated.
