How is the military reacting to the Obama victory?
My best friend is a US Army Major, and is thrilled Obama won- and he tells me most of his officer friends are also Obama supporters-

A question to anyone here in the military- and/or to Vets- how are you reacting to the Obama victory?
I have heard a number of right wing pundits assert 'nobody' in the military would support obama, but i know that can't be true.
Will Obama address the problems with funding for the VA?

3. Considering Obama raised more money from soldiers than McCain did,
I imagine the military is rather happy about this, overall.

:7

And I'm positive the way high up brass are happy about it; to know that they'll finally have a president who will actually listen to them and take their advice.

6. You're right, it can't be true. So don't fret about it.
Our military is comprised of professionals. Even if the candidate an individual supported didn't win, they all respect the chain of command, the office and the electoral process. There won't be any problem with military personnel supporting Obama.

15. Don't you worry about that. Nobody's fretting about it. Quite the opposite.
Because nobody believes the military favour the Republicans. The Republicans were scared to count their votes!

Said he and his friends "do not appreciate the results of this election", he was very snooty and bitter. Said he was very upset. I let it go b/c I am family. Says he does not thing Obama is ready for the foreign policy challenges that lie ahead. :eyes:

12. Wow! Tremendous! If it's true about Max Cleland, I reckon the troops would
have respected him even if he'd been a Republican! Am I going too far...? Though no-one, other than Max!

16. They're very pleased too, apparently - according to our newspapers.

They want a prompt withdrawal, but not so that what remains of the country destroys itself. In other words, they'll need help.

I should think the best way to obtain that is probably for Obama to enlist the aid of neighbouring Iraqi States whose majority population is predominantly Shiite, the same ethnicity as the majority in Iraq. A Pax Iraq (or whatevert he latin name is), and make sure blood-letting is kept to an absolute minimum. I think there was talk of it a few years ago.

14. I live right by the Amphibious base in San Diego. I know officers and enlisted sailors,
The officers are thrilled the enlisted are bummed! I son goes to a public elementary school in the middle of navy housing, and my son and the teacher are the only ones happy about Obama.
