One thing that I am really, really happy about about the outcome of this election is that the Republican Party of recent years -- well, he party of most of my adult lifetime, actually -- the race-baiting, imperialist, anti-modern, the party of capital and christ and letting our public space atrophy -- is all but dead and gone. I really truly didn't originally believe that Obama could be the final instrument to do that party in. That was why I was for Hillary for early on, in fact. I thought that she would pummel them at every turn. But he surprised me and did really, really well.
We will eventually see a "new" republican party. Wouldn't be surprised if the formed their own version of the DLC to try to retake the sensible center. But they are a LONG way from being able to do that anytime soon. Meanwhile, we dems get to make hay while the repugnants wander in the wilderness trying to find a new voice and vision.
Politics just got fun again.
I posted about this twice already since early October. So I won't repeat myself in detail. But just to remind you of my prescient wisdom -- ha ha :-)
