Clark Supporters...Let's remain above the fray
thank you! We are doing a great service to Clark when we don't trash the other democratic candidates.

2. Agreed
But some of the Dean supporters are pushing my limits. It's a heck of a lot of self-control.

The remedy? I put some of them on ignore. :)

bashing is for Lieberman. No one's got the ability to stand up to shrub as well as Clark in regards to military issues.

5. Just grin and bear it. Everytime they go on the attack
they make their candidate weaker. We Clark supporters, should all just continue to post Clark's positives, and leaving the mud slinging to the pros of the other campaigns.

11. Pledged to last night
I plan on going the "iggy button" route myself. No sense whipping and slapping each other around. They love theirs, we love ours. If it's major news, let the press deliver it, the other candidates THEMSELVES deliver it... but no more conspiracy, gaffe-slapping, etc...

Time to be grown-ups now.

Thanks for the post.

Seriously, I'd love to follow Clark's classy lead.
But look at all the attacks on Clark in this forum since
the latest poll came out showing him tied with Dean.

Dean supporters are freaking. And attacking.

So you're suggesting we sit quietly and do a Gandhi like
fast in protest and not espose the smears?

Is that ALL Dean supporters or just a few, obnoxious, prolific ones? If the latter is the case, perhaps you will consider amending your statement to better define the reality.

21. I wholeheartedly agree
I try to never trash other Dem candidates, althought I occasionally have made a snarky remark about Lieberman. I sometimes really lose my cool though when someone attacks my candidate, and I am sure that I have said some regrettable things on occasion in response. I have been making a concerted effort to maintain civility even when really pissed off lately, but it can be difficult.

I see post after post of Dean supporters attacking Clark. Clark supporters are only basically posting positive polls and stories.

And yeah, the fluff in Iowa. But that's not just isolated on one campaign.

29. You know what?
I took the high road for months. Reading all this crap posted about Clark cannot go unanswered. Remember election 2002? The Democrats just cowered to the republicans because of 911, you're not patriotic, you're either with us or against us. It didn't work. Look at what happened. We lost....big time. We cannot let them slander Clark and not defend him. That's what they want. They are out for blood now and will stop at nothing to destroy Clark. See...The smoking gun thread. :grr:

32. You're right
If we sit back and take it, it becomes true by default. Clark critics would say "Why they can't even defend their candidate against (fill in the blank)!"

Although I won't go out of my way to attack, defending is another matter. The gloves are off.

34. Get real.
"out for blood now and will stop at nothing to destroy Clark"

What is this? Gladiator?

How is any post on little old DU gonna destroy Clark?

Is he that fragile?

The Dean bashing pisses me off to no end, as most of it is just re-hashed bullshit, but in reality, it's not gonna affect Dean one iota either.

Every "I used to be a Dean Supporter but now I'm a Clark Supporter" thread is countered with an opposing "I now love Dean" thread.

It's all about ego. I want my candidate to win, and you want yours. And for some reason, everyone feels personally threatened by polls, innuendos, etc.

Repeat after me:

IT'S ALL ABOUT EGO

I can do more for my candidate by working the phones, using the shoe leather, GOTV, etc. That's what I do.

This DU thing is just a circle jerk and an occasional chuckle, concerning the Primary in this forum. (no offense Skinner, DU Rocks!)

There is no "above the fray" here. It's all Fray!

It's Politics, after all...

about aggressively defending Clark when he is attacked, however, I will not stoop to initiating attacks against other candidates. If their supporters invade a Clark thread to attack however, I won't hold off from counterattacking, but I will not initiate it.

42. Too late, too late, the damage is done....
The attacks launched by self-identified supporters of your candidate have already destroyed this forum, and seriously damaged any potential solidarity I once felt for your candidate or his advocates.

Your compatriots have, for all intents and purposes, taken over this forum, and with the relative rise of your canddiate's position in the polls, he shall now become the target of the sort of mean-spirited, destructive vitriol that your side has flushed onto this site for the past two months.

I hope that you enjoy the poop-bath.

You guys have earned it--it spades.

It's funny you should say that. Compare DU today to what it was when Clark announced. 24hr smear threads attacking Clark that filled up the whole frontpage. It got so bad that Skinner needed to institute new rules.

And now, you're complaining when the forum is nowhere near as hostile to Dean as it was to Clark? Yet you didn't complain or say DU was ruined when it was much worse for Clark supporters? Don't worry, with Clark's new momentum, the smear threads attack Clark are starting to climb back up. Maybe it'll even approach the levels they were at when he announced. I guess that will "repair" DU for you.

The Clark-supporter fueled "Stop Dean Movement" threads and other disruptions are matters of historical fact.

Another mater of historical fact is that the Dean-supporter fueled smear Clark threads had gotten so bad that Skinner needed to implement new rules to save DU.
