4. I plan to visit a few Right-Wing boards
And congratulate them for giving their best, suggest Romney-Huckabee for 2012, and offer them virtual beer. I guarantee that will piss them off more than anything in the goddamn world.

I would do the same for my Republican neighbors, but so far... I don't have any! Vashon is a very, very, very blue place.

14. I have one email
to send which I will not compose until Obama wins. I have a very right wing cousin in law. She believed every crap email that was sent to her about Obama. She is scared to death of an Obama presidency and it's not surprising since she believes all the bullshit.

I plan to convey my thanks for all the info that she and her friends forwarded to me and millions of others, that I firmly believe without all that bulshit flying around there would not have been the backlash of support Obama received. Kudos to her and her fellow haters. The country is sick of that garbage and this election proved it.

Basically, I will give her credit for an Obama victory. That should really piss her off.

No. That is something I expect from rwers who only care about
winning instead of issues. Things are way too messed up, and I
m hoping that the wonderfully restrained examle Obama will set is the way we should all strive for. The repubs need to just sit down and lick their wounds, and maybe have some time to reflect on what these last eight years have done to them. Most of them are indeed like Sam the Plumber's helper: they bought into the fantasy that they would be rich next, and were scared of paying taxes on money they don't even have. Hell, Reagan fooled me once. Only once! these people will need help to dea,l as they learn how badly bush screwed them.

I don't want to spoil the transcendent joy by getting into political arguments with them, or with anybody. I really feel as if it will be a cleansing moment for our country--of course, we'll realize it long before they do, if they ever do--and I want to do my part to end the horrible partisanship of the past eight years... or the past twelve or so years, really (I don't know when the attacks on Clinton started; I wasn't paying close attention since he was doing such a good job). This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment of joy and vindication and hope and relief, and the proper response, I think, is of compassion. At least to their faces. ;-)

However, I will most definitely enjoy--nay, relish--nay, savor--their utter unhappiness and misery... I will be cackling gleefully every time I think about how they must be feeling. But I'm not going to rub their faces in it. Not useful and not one of the things the angels of our better natures would do.

On the other hand, I'm only human, so who knows. :)

No.

This time I think we need to figure out how to make-up as quick as possible so we can move forward.

Truth to tell, my #1 reason (among millions) for supporting Obama from the beginning, is because I felt he was the kind of person who could bring us all together.

So, no gloating, just trying to mend bridges with our guy in charge.

28. No. The new US leader has already set the tone...
It'll be a time to heal and unite, and we need to be the ones to enforce that message, otherwise Obama's rule will face its first challenge. I don't want that challenge of uniting to be more difficult because of his supporters. I've already started with the wingnuts I know - telling them that whatever happens, we need to concentrate on getting a whole lot of shit cleaned up as soon as this debacle of a fascist regime is removed. If the bitter whack-jobs won't come together with us all, then fuck them - they can rot in their moldy corner of hate and fear.

That said, I will DEFINITELY be watching that POS Hannity swallow his shoes, and even though I've never watched it once, I'll be setting my TiVo to record The View the next day. I can gloat silently and be just as happy.

87. Good plan, with one caveat
I like this plan and will do the same, at least among the few people I know who have some trepidation towards Obama's "socialist" plan to "make everyone equal" (or whatever gibberish they've heard on the AM dial). But I guarantee you that regardless of reality, no matter how good a job Obama is actually doing the Republicans are going to spend the next four (hopefully eight) years endlessly pissing and moaning about how horrible things are - and it's ALL HIS FAULT!

Gas prices could drop to $2/gallon. Employment and wages could soar. The environment could start drastically improving. Global warming might be addressed. America might be loved internationally. Peace and prosperity might wash over the land from coast to coast. 95% of the people might see their taxes drop. Terrorism might evaporate. And still the loyal right-wingers will hurl tantrum after tantrum after tantrum about how AWFUL everything is thanks to that NO GOOD OBAMA. If they can't find something legitimate to whine about (and they'll do just fine with "prayer is STILL banned from schools" or "abortion on demand has STILL not been outlawed!") they'll just make shit up, same as always. The talking points will be trotted out straight from the anus of the RNC, no different than before.

It's these people who are to be ignored. Come what may, they're determined the next four years WILL be hell. I plan to simply say to those I know: "How are your taxes? Oh, you're paying LESS than under George W. Bush? Really? Can you repeat that? What happened to this claim that Obama was going to raise your taxes? Hmmmmmmmmm?"

55. Fireworks
We have a bunch of fireworks that we used for 4th of July and some beach parties, and still have a few left. I am going to shoot off a couple when Obama wins, mostly because I'll be HAPPY and because my street has a half dozen McCain signs on it. Heh.

When I was in Ohio in 2004 I got one phone call after the tide turned against Kerry, sometime after midnight, from a guy I know back here in California. He called me to gloat, knowing how upset I would be. That pissed me off so much. I could of coure return the favor this year but will instead take the high road. He'll know I'm thinking of him.

Fireworks for sure though. Just a couple. :)

And a bottle of champagne has sat in my fridge all this time too. The Champs was meant to water the street, but it has slept the long, fitful sleep of abiding vengeance instead.
By the wee hours of Nov. 5th all these lodgers in my house will be turned out for good.

My right wing brother is going to be downright dangerous to be around. I will just keep my mouth shut and be a gracious winner. We've got some good governing to take care of. That's what being a liberal is all about, good governance. Not so for the Cons, all they want is to shove their ideology around and prove government doesn't work. 56. No
I know too well how devastating it is to see one's candidate lose. I don't want to add to anyone's misery.

Also, I think that Obama has the potential of becoming "beloved" by both sides of the aisle, and, I think that rubbing it in will only delay the realization that the US is being governed (after 1/20) by an extremely exceptional human being.

61. Maybe
I think the biggest jerks after the 2000 and 2004 elections deserve something. If everyone of them escapes a little razzing when they went out of their way to be sore winners before, they get off better than they deserve, and don't get to see firsthand how much it pisses a person off, and how classless it is for the winner to be ungracious. So, some of them might think twice in the future if a GOP candidate wins.

I can think of a few things that might come to mind for me, but I don't know if I would hold my tongue. Most of the time I just want to say something that can straighten out a right wing idiot by making them look stupid for supporting the GOP.

Fundies who said it was god's doing that bush won: "Where's you god now?! You have been forsaken!"

The people who agreed with Bush ruling in 2001-4 as if he won a landslide, not a controversial "tie" election, and who said Bush had some huge "mandate" after 2004 with his 2.5% win: (If Obama wins by more than 2.5%) "This is an overwhelming mandate. It's pretty much like Obama won by 40%, and the people have emphatically said that Obama has the mandate and moral imperative to govern as he wants."

Racists: "It just warms my heart that we will have a black president, and you can't do a thing about it. Think of the misery for you when he turns out to be way better at his job than most of the white dudes the last 45 years. And the only one who might be as good of a president as Obama was Bill "the first black president" Clinton. At least for you, Obama had a white mom, so you've got that going for you."

People who think democrats winning will mean 'surrendering to terrorists': "Remember when Bush caught and killed bin Laden? Me either. Why does the muslim world hate us 10 times more than in 2000? Who failed to react to the memo two months before 9/11 called "Bin Laden determined to strike inside US"? Seems like we pretty much surrendered to terrorists with Bush, but at least a bunch of oil guys got super rich, right?"

People who vote on the single issue of abortion: "Why was abortion not outlawed when bush and republicans controlled everything for 6 years, and 9/11 dampened any dissent for anything they did? Why do republicans always talk about the evils of abortion, but never do anything about it? They're playing you like a fool. Under Obama, there will be fewer abortions than under bush. I will bet you any amount of money right now. Let's see you back up your talk with a bet, even 20 bucks if you're not confident about it. If you can't, you're a huge coward. Your call."

People who believe the "Obama isn't a citizen" crap: "I guess this election shows that you can't be President if you were born in Panama. You have to be born in the USA. You know, one of the states, like Hawaii."

The people who spout the most ridiculous things about Obama and dems, like "Obama will give free money to all black people, and violence against whites will be encouraged" or "Only stupid people vote for Obama or Democrats.": "Are you ever right about anything? God you are such an embarassment to our country. On the bright side, you're upset about the election, so that's a plus."

Then at lunch, over to my daughter's high school where I have LOST **4** Obama/Biden bumper stickers in the last month --she drives my car to/from school each day. Of course, I haven't shared THAT "drive-thru-the-parking-lot-as-kids-are-heading-to/from-lunch" part with my daughter.
Then after lunch...down to Dallas to drive thru chimpass' future neighborhood (in Highland Park).

O.K. That's a bit of hyperbole. I don't think my neighbors would actually kill me. But I live in a county where 81% voted for Bush/Cheney in 2004. I don't think it would be wise to rub it in. Not if I want to live in peace with my neighbors.

Edited to add: I may do some rubbing in of the salt online, however.
