9. It's Those Potential Democrats
with gun racks in the back of their pickups with confederate flags decals. Dean couldn't bring 'em in, but Obama is. Who would have thunk?

12. I look at it as a team effort, Dean and Obama and
of course Bush's corrupt, incompetence played a part as well.

Ultimately, I believe this is the Republican's worst nightmare and a harbinger that Reagen's poison is wearing off.

36. Nixon's poison. See his so-called
"Southern strategy" of 1968. Reagan merely reaped the fruits of what Nixon had sown.

41. Yes but after Nixon's ignominious resignation and the non-Ford Presidency,
the Republicans were at a crossroads with the economy on their side, they were in a position of strength in 1979 and could have taken the high road.

In some respects ie: the environment, Nixon was more progressive than Reagen, after Jimmy Carter had poised the U.S. to wean it self from fossil fuels, Reagan took us backward even removing the solar panels from the White House as a symbol of his Neanderthalism.

Reagen not only exploded the deficit, he exploded the prison population primarily by disenfranchising minority voters, all the while telling the people, it was morning in America.

It wasn't Nixon's legacy that Republicans boasted about two decades later, it was Reagen's because Reagan put a smiley face on Nixon's race based policies.

14. Does not surprise me in the least
I know too many people who had ancestors who fought in that war and they are proud of that history and it is not a racial thing to them. A weird dichotomy but there it is.

Anybody who flies that damned confederate flag is a despicable turd.

Oh, and I'm from the south, too. Anybody still emotionally attached to that dreadful symbol needs to grow up, and wise up.

38. Am I a dispicable turd for wearing THIS on a hat during a visit to South Carolina?

And nobody commented on it, really. Hardly looked at it, I think. Sure made my dad uncomfortable though.

Although admittedly I didn't have the balls to wear THIS:

There's a lot of this going on.

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.

30. I hear ya, but I think we all suffer from the effects of racism.
In that sense, "we" can't afford it. No doubt the racists who vote for Obama are doing so because they, personally, can't afford it either.

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.
