Back from serving fresh, warm cookies to VERY long poll line in Charlotte.
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 04:33 PM by blm
Then I picked little blm up from school on the other side of Charlotte - every polling place I passed has about 2hour waits.

i definitely see Kissell winning big over Hayes, and expect Obama coattails with new voters in Dilworth/South End area to bring Harry Taylor victory over Myrick who is trying to sell herself as a bi-partisan, common sense Grandma - in other words, she's taking the opposite tact of Liddy Dole.

1. What you're doing is huge.
I hope you're wearing an Obama t-shirt while you're doing it :hi:! Only an Obama supporter would think to do something this good.

I'm waiting for election day to vote, then I'm donating a big bag of groceries to the food bank in Obamas name.

6. Nope - no Obama shirt. Just grateful that people are taking the time - these lines are LONG.
I can't imagine people stuck around in these types of lines, or even HAD TO, until the 2000 and 2004 election cycles. I believe it has been a deliberate pattern since GOPs took over most of the state roles in the 90s. They PLANNED their election stranglehold a decade ago. Dems had to play serious catchup in many states the last 4yrs.

9. Bingo!
Did you ever hear of long lines and difficulties voting before 2000? It's a Repug invention.

10. Yep - one that 'coincided' with electronic voting machines that were 'supposed' to
make voting more efficient and end the waits to vote. Instead, they curiously became LONGER lines.

4. Mostly smiles and thanks. No political discussions allowed, and I wouldn't mess up like that
Restraint is key when you're around polling places.

19. Depends on how many NEW voters vote. If they come through for Obama I don't see them voting for
Myrick. I never even see Myrick signs in yards, but on the 15 minute route I take to school, Taylor signs are abundant.

My conservative mother, father and brother are voting for Obama but they are voting for Myrick. They like her down there in Charlotte.

22. Myrick is great with the faux concern...and she panders to the anti-immigration crowd shamelessly
but, there really is a good chance for Taylor if Obama's new voters show up.

She'll certainly have her closest race yet though. I'm pulling hard for Mr. Taylor though.

23. What a kind thing to do. I think most Europeans are aghast at what those Neocons put you
through in so many places, just to vote. And before you can even do that - assuming you haven't been illegally purged from the electoral roll - many of you have to jump through hoops to just register to vote. They must think it's a dog show where they can put you through your paces.

I only work a half day on Tuesday. I already voted and there's a polling place up the street from me Tuesday. Maybe I will take up the cookie cause.

26. what a great thing to do
is this the first time you are seeing lines like this over there ? i remember people were ctiticizing Obama for going into these red states before and saying he couldn't win there. but he likely will win, but even more important it will certainly help the other Democrats running. Georgia is a good example.

and it's a big reason why Senators usually considered safe are having a hard time in red states .

30. There were very long lines in 2004, too. Our wait then was an hour and a half.
I am certain NC was another stolen state in 2004. This time the machines are being watched more closely.
