SoCal McCain supporter removes bloody Obama effigy

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. —

A Los Angeles-area McCain supporter has removed a Halloween effigy of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama hanging from her balcony with a giant butcher knife through its neck.

Lisa Castaneda of Redondo Beach put up the blood-covered figure on Wednesday. A placard read "Nobama."

Castaneda included the effigy in a larger Halloween display and says she didn't mean to be racist or offensive. But the display drew immediate criticism and she took it down Wednesday night at the request of a McCain campaign representative.

Weeks of similar criticism prompted a West Hollywood man on Wednesday to remove an effigy of McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, hanging by a noose.

4. But she didn't mean to be racist or offensive.
:sarcasm:

Don't they always say that? Why else would they do that?

5. What a stupid response she gave. Well, what in hell did she mean to be if not
racist and offensive. Hateful bitch.

7. That's what I'm talking about.
Why do it then? Saying it ain't so doesn't make it not so. This election is certainly bringing out the racist loons. They are ones causing trouble at rallies, etc.

I worry for Barack's safety.

8. She said why.
She did it because Obama refuses to place his hand on a bible or wear a flag pin.

9. Uh... Obama wore a flag pin at the debates, McCain did not.
I don't know, and frankly don't care, about the Bible thing.

10. I know.
Someone posted a photo of Obama with the pin and another of Cheney swearing him in, and yes, his hand was on the bible. I've heard that crap before though. The lady is getting that propaganda from some source, though, and believes it.

Someone here asked how the election could be close? That's how. Lying propagandists who can say whatever they like and get away with it.
