NC Extends Voting Hours

NC Extends Voting Hours

North Carolina looks like it is going the same direction as Florida, and that's a good thing. It just goes to show what having an excellent Sec. of State can do for the people.

WRAL is reporting here that the State Board of Elections will extended polling hours an extra 4 hours over the weekend on the request of Mecklenburg (Charlotte and surrounding communities) and Guilford (Greensboro & High Point) Counties. Apparently both of these areas have been swamped with people wanting to vote early.

Even better, this extention is STATEWIDE unless the county determins it's not necessary. Mecklenburg includes many Kissel voters so lets do what we can to continue to astonishing turnout that NC has had (over 1.8 million votes cast so far) as we get closer to election day.

5. Here in Maryland we have to vote to allow early voting
Apparently, our constitution is written such that voting is only allowed on Election Day.

However, I'm hopeful that the measure changing the constitution will pass on Tuesday.
