Media Proclaims Obama Victory TODAY!!! It's OVER! WOOOHOOO!!!
Do you really expect them to say such a thing? The MSM is reporting the poll-tightening because of one reason and one reason only: ratings. If they reported what is actually happening then Democrats would ignore them in expectations of what is to come and the Republicans would ignore them because they are too depressing. Independents still remaining at this time would ignore them anyway. So how do they grab our attention? By reporting the polls are tightening. That does two things:

1. It has us Democrats going NO-EFFING-WAY, WTF?!?! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! THEY'RE LYING!
2. It has Republicans bubbling up with false hope going OMG, WE CAN DO THIS, SERIES!!!1! THIS IS HUGH!!!111

And they have our attention again.

My advice. Ignore them until they have something noteworthy to report and in the meanwhile, GOTV.

1. I got sick of standing on my soapbox about this.
The Media is not left wing or right wing. The media is it's own wing and they're fueled on ratings.

4. Media preference for a close race is VERY GOOD for the Dems.
It helps prevent apathy among DEM voters who believe the polls. By not taking the win for granted, they will be more motivated to turn out at the polls.

5. Might work to our advantage....
Voters seeing this race tightening up, more likely to get out and vote. We have been worried here about being complacent. This works for us.

6. There was a time when ...
news wasn't expected to get big ratings or turn a profit. It must have been nice. :-)
