I bet Obama challenged him to a race. Honestly, I'd rather that the secret service guy keep an eye out for the bad guys.. especially in such an open area like that.

I've done political stuff for a long time and I've been within arms' reach of three Prime Ministers, a Deputy Prime Minister (our equivalent of vice-president) and several candidates for Prime Minister (eg. Layton). Hence, I've had a lot of contact (some actual) with our equivalent of the Secret Service.

Notice how both SS guys are looking past Obama? They're working out line of sight from the crowd to Obama by keeping Obama in sight. They're also keeping out of each other's line of sight.
