1) A older school librarian in Texas who voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004 who emailed me today to let me know that she had early voted for Obama. She joked that last night she watched his infomercial and "bought the product." 2) My 80+ aunt in Texas who has never voted for a Democrat is voting early today courtesy of my mother who is driving her. 3) My son-in-law had heart surgery 9 days ago and his older roommate shared that he was voting Democrat for the first time in his life. He was proud of it and my daughter even overheard him on a phone call with a friend convincing his friend to vote for Obama, as well. He got off the phone and said, "there's one more" with a wink to my daughter. This gentleman said he worked for CBS and had quite a bit of info on the various political figures and shared some fascinating history with my son-in-law and daughter. 4) My cousin and his wife who are staunch Republican (related to my aunt dicussed in #2) voted for Obama. They are in Austin. 5) My 80+ aunt in Illinois who, despite her location, voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004.
Now, these are folks who usually switch their votes and all of them except my son-in-law are over 60.
Just makes ya' smile!
