Maybe more people are identifying now as republicans?

Did they weight the partisan id or are they using random sampling?

Wow... I think there will be a five-point differential in total voting. The pundits have a hard time realizing that things have changed since 2004. The "9-11 Republican" converts have left the plantation, and many others, previously apathetic, will vote Democratic.

dems have slightly increased in the last 2 years.

both generally have been in the mid-30s for a long time. the GOP figure is probably closer to 30-32% tho.
