And Staples is no longer getting my business due to the manager telling people Obama is a terrorist.

1. Oh man! I would write to corporate & let them know!!!
Get his ass in a little bit of hot water!

Even if Staples is more of a red company than a blue one, they need to know, cuz ultimately, the only color most companies care about is green. Definitely write!!

18. Another suggestion:
If you have any receipts or invoices from the store, make copies of those & send them, too. I've found when writing to companies, that copies of receipts adds 'omph' to your complaint - they see you really are customer.

Glad you're getting others to join you!

6. I don't understand businesses doing this
for either campaign. No matter where you are it's going to alienate a decent proportion of potential customers and the gains are tiny at best. The people you make happy are going to forget about it a lot faster than the ones you piss off.

7. As I stated in a previous post, we own a small business, and political signs NEVER go in our windows
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 10:01 AM by predfan
If that business owner is that sincere in his opinions, then he should respect the customer who's just as sincere in his or hers, and refuses to give them their business.........Tit for tat, so to speak.

13. I am not doing business with a local shop as well.
I always try and buy locally but in this case I will be using the internet instead. I was stuck waiting in line at a small shop (the only one with in a 3 hours drive) and the owner was talking about how evil Obama was and blah, blah, blah. So hate filled that I was speechless and just left. Such a shame too, I liked the woman and her store but not anymore.

That said, I wouldn't not stop supporting a shop because of a McCain sign but I will over hate filled remarks and lies. But put an Obama sign up and I just might be a customer for life. :)

16. There is a local gas station which has for years supported a local candidate whom I can't stand.
Think about how much I can't stand Bush, McCain, Palin, et al, and roll it all into one big ball of loathing. This year's enormous sign for this candidate is even larger, and it's tacked up across half the roof of the gas station.

So yes, I never buy gas or anything else at that station.

17. I am basically doing the same thing
Why would I want to do business with people who are, at this point, practically knowingly telling lies about Obama? Or who are too stupid to realize that McCain hasn't spoken a word of truth in months? Or cheering for McCain as he tries to save his wealthy buddies from tax increases, while most of those idiots in the audiences make so little that they will be crushed under McCain's plans, but they are too stupid to understand what is being said? Or those who act like a mob with pitchforks over a man's skin color? Or go all McCarthy over supposed "associations" to the point of wanting to destroy others based on flimsy facts?

I don't want this kind of America coming back into prominence - I don't want America to stand for these kind of fake "values."

I won't do support/enable anymore those who seek to destroy my country, who are so tight minded their warped thinking freaking makes me ill. I am not going to enable people's livelihoods who won't or can't think straight enough to make good decisions. They are wrecking this economy too, and I am marginalizing them in my own choices as far as who I do business with. I have never done this before on this scale, but honestly I don't want people like this to be part of my universe.

If they want to do a reality check, or come to a realistic conclusion, we'll talk then. But there is enough information out there that should be causing them doubt about McCain - and if they still approve of him, there is plain someting wired wrong about their thinking. What I am seeing from supporters of Dumb and Dumber is the stuff that kills freedom and diversity. I have no business doing business with small minds like that.

25. And you know what is the scariest thing to me?
I don't think I even understood the depth of stupidity of some of the people with which I've been doing business.

Also, there is a level of mean spiritedness, negativity, and irrational fear that I also completely missed. Or at least, underestimated how damaging that is to a society as a whole.

This thread has helped me reaffirm my earlier decision. Given the rural location I currently inhabit, this has meant really have to search hard to find good people with which to deal. But I probably should have been making different decisions years ago - right now, though, it is easier to spot this type in advance, pretty transparent due to the elections.

21. In 2006, I made note of the signs, too. There was a place I used to grab lunch from at least a
couple of times a week. GREAT food, CHEAP. I've missed that food and the prices, but I've not been back. If you are in business and a Pub, the least you can do is keep it to yourself.
