Daily Kos (Research 2000) Poll: Obama 50 (no change), McCain 45 (+1)

Internals...http://www.dailykos.com/dailypoll/2008/10/29

Based on their internals, the Northeast has been weakening for Obama over the past 2-3 days but he still has a commanding lead in this region...also, those in the 30-44 age range have been moving away from Obama.....

1. I don't buy into this one anymore. Look at the regions. They don't make sense.

Obama is doing 8 points better in spread in the NE, 11 points better in the West, and 12 points better in the Midwest than Kerry. Yet the South is somehow worse than Kerry did?

2. There are DUers who think....
that this poll is one of the few polls that does lean left...but lately McCain has been making up ground....

6. Obama could be doing worse among southern whites
Sad to say, but maybe they just can't get themselves to vote for a black man.

Though, I think "south" is depending on where you're speaking of. NC and VA have had major demographic shifts, which account for their battleground state status now. However, AL and MS aren't voting for a Dem anytime soon.

4. McCain's gains in this poll are with 30-44 year old voters.
Are they buying this Joe the Plumber stuff?

9. That's what I was thinking...
but if you look at the NE, McCain has been gaining there as well...really weird....

The public does not realize that this Joe the Plumber stunt is all a lie...he's not licensed, he never has any plans on buying a business, and the business does not come close to making $250,000/year, and to top it off, McCain's tax plan does nothing for Joe and Obama's does...gives him a tax cut. But no one from the Obama campaign has come out and said this...don't get it.

12. Yeah, that 60-36 point lead for Obama in the NE is pretty weak

7. Oh Noes! You're making me nervous--Not.
This is how yesterday began and then things calmed down when Hotline, Gallup and ABC reported their numbers. Also, wasn't Zogby today up to plus 7 for Obama (it was 5 yesterday). Finally, this and other polls today don't reflect the Obama special.

13. Yes, I know...
I would also point out that only yesterday's numbers show no slippage it's still 50-45 and today we will see how the Obama special last night played out. My guess is an uptick to Obama tomorrow.

14. Strange poll, was too high before and now seems about right, 5-7
points seems to be Obama's lead right now.
