my DAD was in the Obamamercial...
30+ years working for the Union Pacific
lives on acreage outside of a small town in deep East Texas
he's a musician, plays the drums
finished his house on his own...even installed his wood floors himself
hit 60 this year, planned to retire on his birthday...but he's too scared to make the move now
had some portion of his pension in the market...not too much, but enough to freak him out
he's looking for a small job - school bus driver, groundskeeper - something in town so he can continue to get health care

no, not Larry Stewart...my white, redneck father, a racist who unabashedly loves his African-American son-in-law, but who will drink too much and admit (to my husband) that people just "won't" vote for a black man

Barack Obama was speaking to my DAD

i hope he was listening

2. A lot of peoples' family members and friends were in that video...
...from that standpoint, it was sheer genius.

They got THE stories out.

The Albuquerque school teacher who has to work a second job to make ends meet, but still squeezes out time to take classes to be a better teacher...

They were all great illustrations of why we have to take back our nation.

More props to the O-team.

approvingly,
Bright

4. If a lot of undecideds were watching, then I think he got more votes
As I watched it, I really tried to think about how an undecided voter would view it. As a strong supporter, it's so easy to just automatically love whatever the man does. At this point, he could have pitched a ShamWow and I'd have been first in line to buy one. But I truly think he knocked it out of the park with this one. There are an awful lot of people who can see themselves in those families he profiled, or know someone like them.
