Lame I know, but I'm proud of my "Hope" pumpkin
I just finished carving my Obama "Hope" symbol pumpkin and I'm so proud of it, I just had to post the photo.

The kids loved it. It should be safe this Halloween as we live in one of the bluest precincts in on the the bluest cities (Duluth, MN)in the country.

Nice pumpkin, btw.

16. Yeah, we'd love to have you in our neighborhood!
We're over by UMD and there are a few houses for sale around here. The only damage to our Obama sign occured when one of my son's buddies tried to hurdle the sign and didn't quite make it. Bent it up a little, but it's still standing strong. It's a GREAT neighborhood!

57. i don't doubt it. i'm in a grad program at UMD, so i'm in the area all day
our house, however, is right on the edge of a bunch of college student rentals, and every year (sometimes semester) is something akin to russian roulette. other than that, i love the city.

Glad you're here! Nice work on that pumpkin!!!

Halloween HOPE!!!

Reminds me of eight years ago when my next door neighbor and I walked our kids around the neighborhood trick-or-treating. He was a staunch, life-long, old-style Republican (NOT a republi-CON). As we were making the rounds, the talk naturally gravitated toward the election just a few days away. bush v Gore. He knew my politics and my preference for Gore. Ever the gentleman, he never engaged me in any political debate or tried to give me a hard time. He was a mcsame man. Well, McCain, back then. And he was discouraged, one of those who was going to be holding his nose to vote for bush because his man had already lost. And as we walked, he mumbled, somewhat downcast, "bush is SO STOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-pid."

This same fellow and his wife just recently replaced their Obama for President yard sign with a newer Obama/Biden sign.

41. Not an artist, but my Dad is
So, maybe I got a little skill from him, but not much. My sister is an art teacher, so she got most of it. I just used a paring knife to carve it, but I was VERY careful! ;)
