4. No. The people that won't like it are already McCain supporters.
They get their opinions and instructions from Fixed News.

6. Just the DU Handwringing Brigade whining about how the ad might screw things up for Obama...
Don't ask me how, because I don't pretend to know how crazy people think.

7. Yes
I still think it was a Hail Mary in a game you are up 30. And already it has opened up the talking point on various shows about the money advantage as if Obama is winning unfairly because he can afford to buy something like this and McCain can't. (and yes, ignoring the reasons why).

Just because you connected on a 50 yard bomb in a game like this doesn't mean you should have thrown it.

17. To continue the football analogy, even Vince Lombardi didn't get em all right
And Obama himself will tell you the "Cling to God and guns" was a major fuckup. He's not perfect. He will make mistakes as President too.

I personally think it would have been a perfect, awesome move in a close election. I don't personally think this is a close election anymore, and I think this only opened up a route for the opposition to come back.

IMO, don't think it was a game changer either way, just wouldn't have done it myself.

33. You obviously have no idea how much reassurance certain white people need
Some are absolutely terrified of electing a black man. We cannot let any "soft" support slip away. There must be constant reassurance that Obama is NOT a radical.

It sounds crazy but until it is PROVEN a black man can be elected President, Obama has to play by special rules this election and take nothing for granted.

13. Dance with the girl that brung ya
Obama didn't get here by playing 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

Remember when the run n shoot Oilers blew that huge lead to the Bills in the AFC Championship in 91 or 92. They lost because they got up and went into a shell and tried to be something they weren't to salt the game away while the Bills kept at the K-Gun and beat them.

18. My opinion, of course.
I thought it was overkill, and the media has begun to play it as such. It may well override the message of the piece itself.

Just sayin.

EDIT: It's almost admirable. After being wrong over and over and over and over, most people woulda concluded that they just don't have the skills or intellect to give campaign advice. BUT NOT YOU GUYS!!!

20. WTF are you talking about?
I have been pro-Obama on every damn thing since last January.

I thought this was an un-necessary risk with a potential for backlash. They probably planned it a while back before the polls had broken so convincingly for Obama, but still it is throwing hail marys when the game seems to be in hand.

Its just a fucking opinion, relax.

I still think he's going to win, honest.

25. Absolutely. Yes.
Even if it works out fine in the end, and that remains to be seen, it was still risky. IMHO, there was no need to take a big risk at this point in the campaign.

28. I have to admit
While no one can accuse me of being among the concern trolls on DU - I've been firmly in the positive "we're going to win this" camp for some time - there was a teeny, tiny part of me that was just a little bit worried about this. I never thought it would lose the race or anything, it just made me feel a little uneasy. I don't know why. Once I watched it though, I felt better. I can understand why some were a little worried though. I think we were in good shape either way. This ad is icing on the cake. It will win over some more undecideds and inspire people to get out the vote.

35. The concern was TIRESOME. It reminds me of Gore and Kerry paying attention to each media fit of
hysteria. It never did them ANY GOOD. Why should Obama move when the media tells him to move, stop when the media tells him to stop, or any other media induced action?

They continue to show their main objective is press forward until they find something scandalous or problematic. That is no way to govern or to run a campaign. Their attention to the dramatic caused them to lose sight of the soldiers and civilians in the Iraqi War and made them miss the behind the scenes chicanery in this financial debacle.

They pretty much got in right during Hurricane Katrina but didn't stick with it. They covered this recent storm that hit Texas initially but they have failed to follow through with how the government is responding now.

The MSM needs to check itself.

As far as DUers regurgitating ever single fear/concern the MSM has...

Eventually you concerned DUers will notice a trend in coverage and be more discriminating, it took me a while before I recognized propaganda from a possibly true story. I think feedback on news websites have allowed them to see that people really don't believe what they are being told anymore.
