Where McCain was (is?) going with JTP.
I believe McCain's campaign have totally confused tactic and strategy.

That being said, when he started to really use JTP as a strategy I wondered where it was going. I think it's safe to say that had phase one and two been more successful (Joe's introduction to the American people then The "I am JTP commercials") we would have seen the McCain campaign draw the next "logical" conclusion which I believe would have gone something like this:

JTP is a regular American guy who Obama wants to hurt (with his policies)> You are an American like Joe the plumber > Obama wants to hurt you.

We are all aware that this sort of tactic has worked before. I think it speaks volumes that Americans not only rejected it out of hand, but also, it seemed to me, they sorta smelled something funny right outta the box. Maybe it's just the economy focusing people like laser beams, but perhaps people are starting to reacquaint themselves with the good ol' American olfactory test.
